AS the eight leading ODI nations convene for the ICC Champions Trophy, one side is conspicuous by its absence.
Over the next two and a half weeks, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka will do battle in world cricket’s second most prestigious 50-over tournament.
But missing the party are West Indies, ranked only ninth in the ODI standings.
The game in the Caribbean has been on the slide for a number of years – gone are the glory days of Malcolm Marshall, Viv Richards, Curtly Ambrose and Brian Lara – as the row between the nation’s cricket board and its star players continues to undermine the fortunes of the team.
Winners of the first two editions of the World Cup in 1975 and 1979, the Windies were the standard-bearers of limited-overs cricket following its inception, but their absence from this year’s Champions Trophy is the culmination of a slow and steady decline.
Since the retirement of their last superstar Lara in 2007, West Indies have struggled – without success – to produce a side capable of challenging the traditional powers in both the Test and ODI arenas.

I wish to applaud the Author of this article for telling the TRUTH ABOUT
WEST INDIES CRICKET .

What troubles me is the fact that not many in the Media will persist in demanding that there MUST BE STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN THE REGIONAL
BOARDS & IN THE WICBC .

THE VERY FACT THAT THE MEDIA IN THE

For many years now Cricket in the Region has been governed by

MIMIC MEN IN THE REGIONAL BOARDS &

THE WICBC ,IDIOTS WHO RELISH BEHAVING

LIKE THOSE WHO FOUNDED THE WICBC .

The stark fact is that it aint yesterday that these People started
behaving like Autocratic Fools ; this
has been going on unabated for many
years .

WHY IS IT THAT THE MEDIA IN THE

REGION HAS BEEN SILENT UNTIL NOW WHEN

IT HAS FINALLY SUNK IN THAT THOSE IN

THE WICBC & THE REGIONAL BOARDS HAVE

ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST IN IMPROVING

THE FORTUNES OF WEST INDIES CRICKET .

Just imagine the President of the WICBC publicly stated a Lie , and most people in the Region concluded
that was fine and dandy .

THIS NEWSPAPER & OTHERS IN THE REGION

NEED TO STOP BEING WILLING TOOLS OF

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST INTERNATIONAL

CRICKET BOARD IN THE COMMONWEALTH ,

AKA THE WICBC .

The job of the Media is to call out
those in the governance of Cricket in
the Region it aint to massage the
super inflated Egos of the Emperors in West Indies Cricket .

THE STARK FACT IS THAT IT IS YOU IN

THE MEDIA WHO HAVE SPAWNED THESE

MONSTERS BY FAILING TO BE CRITICAL

OF THE REGIONAL BOARDS & THE WICBC .

The stark Truth is this :

THE MEDIA IN THE REGION HAVE ASSISTED

IN CREATING THE FALSE INFALLIBILITY

OF THE WICBC & THOSE IN THE WICBC .

Therefore it owes a responsibility to the people in this
Region to destroy the aura of infallibility that IT HELPED created .

THE MEDIA CAN START BY BEING VERY

CRITICAL OF THE REGIONAL BOARDS & THE

WICBC . NOW THE PERCEIVED OMNIPOTENCE

OF THE WICBC DID NOT START YESTERDAY

THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MANY YEARS .
My hope is that the Media will now become very vigilant regarding the
Regional Boards & the WICBC .
