Can CWI qualify for ICC world Cup 2019

CWI has to beat Ireland in a one-off ODI
Defeat England 5-0 or 4-1

If CWI does not Sri Lanka will qualify

The CWI team will have difficulty trying to qualify direct for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
CWI plays an upcoming one-off ODI against Ireland in Belfast on 13 September

A five-match ODI series against England from 19 to 29 September.

The Windies side has 78 points, eight points behind eighth-placed Sri Lanka, whom it will need to overtake in order to qualify.

The top seven ODI sides apart from host England as on 30 September qualify directly for the 50-over event, 30 May to 15 July 2019 in the United Kingdom.

Losing any match other than the opening match against England at Old Trafford on 19 September will allow Sri Lanka a direct passage.

Failure will means CWI must play in a Qualifying tournament.

Can CWI do it ?

I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Raining & high winds here in Belfast for the next few days.

Terrible planning to play ODI's in the UK during Autumn.

With today's wash out in Ireland

CWI must play in the qualifying tourney for the 2019 WC

Only fair! Windies (Cameron) put ODI's on the back burner after "India walk out" instead of fixing the issue with the players. "Too late shall be the cry"

It was always highly unlikely that CWI would automatically qualify given the results that needed to be obtained for automatic qualification to occur

So having to play pre qualifying matches should come as no suprise to anyone.

If CWI is truly serious about qualification for the 2019 ICC WC, then ALL ODI matches from here on, will be priority. Doesn't matter who the opposition is and to some extent, it doesn't matter what the result is.

The ONLY result that counts at this point is the ACTUAL qualifying match(s) for the 2019 ICC WC.

IMO....the priorities are in this order:

1 - Knowing which players constitute your core group of players for the competition AND selecting those players
2 - Ensuring this core group play as many matches TOGETHER in this format as possible
3 - Ensuring that performance in the 3 disciplines is improved
4 - Develop a winning habit

How many at CWI thinks as your notation above ?

Is the points system based on a fixed and equal number of ICC sanctioned matches? Or is it based on one Team playing ODI mostly for the years in between the WC just to qualify
