ST JOHN’S, Antigua – When WINDIES A goes to England this summer, it will be the third series in less than a year. Cricket West Indies is placing great emphasis on the A team programme to give players international experience and to ensure that “players have the best possible preparation along the pathway to becoming an elite athlete”.

Following a successful and a comprehensive series win over the England Lions earlier this year in the Caribbean, WINDIES A will participate in a Tri-Nation series with India and hosts, England.

The one-day series includes a double round robin with a final and will run from June 17 – July 2. Before that there will be two warm up matches.

In commenting on the squad, Chairman of Selectors, Courtney Browne says, “as we look ahead to preparing for the 2019 ICC World Cup, the panel has included a mix of current ODI players (Jason Mohammed, Keemo Paul, and Rovman Powell) and also some exciting young fast bowlers that are part of the fast bowling camp currently ongoing in Antigua. Sunil Ambris is also returning from injury. The panel is looking forward to also identifying any talent that can be part of the 2019 ICC World Cup squad.”

The team is scheduled to arrive in the UK on Thursday, June 14 and they will be accompanied by the Team Management Unit:

Aljo seems like he'll be out a little longer than expected.
Was it 3 or 6 months they were expecting him to be out for?

Now this looks like a plan. At one point i was really scared they were going to recall some of those hard back globe trotters some folks bawlin for.

There is nothing wrong with this squad and if 3 or 4 of them can perform well and step up to the senior squad that will be great...

II would have liked to see Odean Smith in the mix but no complaint otherwise. Glad to see O Thomas in the squad. This kid has the talent to be a good international class fast bowler. Interesting that there are two left arm "fast" bowlers in the squad.

Great team but you are correct Cotterell was the pick of WI fast bowlers prior to his injury, not sure why he was not picked, unless he is still injured. Anyway Campbell just top-scored for the President XI against Sri Lanka, let's see how they will manage him now.

I am surprise that with Sebastien being on the Selection committee that Theophile is not given a chance, Theophile made a century in the 50 overs finals of the CPL, that should mean something, only two years ago he was competing with Chandrika for a WI position, obviously the WI Selectors made the wrong bet as Chandrika is out of F/C cricket and Theophile is the WWI captain.

Yea I think your eleven makes more sense than mine. Powell and Refier unlikely to play in the same eleven because they are both medium pace allrounders and since Powell has been around the senior ODI squad I'll give him the nod.

Paul,Holder, Drakes and Thomas in the same eleven could be formidable to watch. I think I'm getting excited about this series.

In England our batsmen will all be just as bad as each other as they struggle to cope with the swing.

Do you see how Curran is able to swing the ball in Headingley? I hope our guys are watching.
