One of the most feared pacers
I just love to see the way he whipped Laras arse. Lara was completely exposed in that tour and he was never the same against pace bowling.
Fantastic bowler......soooooo underrated. I remember in Cape Town, Lara hit him for two fours and a six in succession and donald came back with a searing bouncer at the throat, must have been 150ks because lara hooked again but it went nowhere and he was caught

Lara surrendered to him in that tour. Lara cant play pace and Donald exposed it.
In reply to pichalpack
Ironically Brett Lee was much quicker than donald abd lara has 3 centuries against him including a double ton and one on a fifth day QPO pitch which nobody chases and wins on

Post the head to head stats. Lara is a garbage against pace and its the proven fact.

I asked for stats against Lee. Not your dodging, bamboozled skills. Everyone knows he sucks against pace. But you are dodging the point and bringing spin into the picture.
In reply to pichalpack
Hoss all de stats there. Look at the comments, there are more there too
In reply to Jumpstart
I dint asked for shite comments from mulls and WHOOPISSIANS. I asked for stats against Lee and you are afraid to post it.

Anyways if you were wondering who waqar younis thought was the greatest player of his generation
In reply to Jumpstart
a pakistan player will not give that title to an indian.
In reply to Jumpstart
but lara is a better watch than tendukar.
In reply to Raggs
Really. Mushtaq Ahmed has said that tendulkar was the best player of his generation. Saqlain has said something similar
Lara isn't even in Mushtaq Ahmed's lords xi
In reply to Jumpstart
ok, point taken, but Lara had more of an x-factor to me.
In reply to Raggs
Indeed. But it's a pointless debate. Two totally different approaches to batsman ship. Lara's approach to express pace was to fight fire with fire and perished quite a few times doing that. Tendulkar was to see out the storm and feast on everybody after.....a much more success strategy. But I don't think Tendulkar could fight a team on his own like how lara dI'd numerous times. Then again, I don't think lara could ever be as consistent as tendulkar over a prolonged period. He was a true artist, complete with the petulance and lack of focus but a volcanoe of ideas

It is not just about stats .In sports flair makes the difference .
Donald had such a wonderful bowling action
Donald was a top notch fast bowler and any top notch fast bowler MUST succeed against top notch batsmen some times. To say that Lara could not play fast bowling is being downright stupid. He was a top notch batsman against fast bowling and against spin bowling. However, all top notch batsman are going to come up on times when top notch bowlers triumph over them.
Nevertheless, I remember seen Lara play a stupid inning against an ordinary Australian medium pacer and I could only marvel, WHY? Holding described that last 3 balls he faced: "Going, going gone."
The Waugh brothers murdered Donald and he only got Steve after he had made a big score.
In reply to pichalpack
You are another racist, go look at any world eleven LARA IS IN IT
In reply to jelfew
Indeed. That series could have been one of the grea test ever played and I think the wI would have won. The bowlers did their part. At no time could the SA batsmen get a hold of Walsh and ambrose. But Lara's head just wasn't into the cricket then. Actually donald wrote in his autobiography that at times during the tour he was unapproachable and he was really angry about that because up til that tour, he considered lara a close friend
In reply to Jumpstart
Lara and Hooper contrived to screw up WI..
In reply to pichalpack
Hey Pendejo, I can see Nascar and Curling is more to your understanding.
In reply to Raggs
if you like to jumping jack
In reply to FanAdict... he is jus a facking troll.
Donald just had a handle on Lara in that particular series. Wouldn't quite say lara cant play pace. You don't make that many runs if you can't play this or that.
All the debate about Lara and Tendulkar is bull. Any true cricket fan will know that Lara carry the west Indies team on his shoulder as far as batting is concern through out his career and Tendulkar is also great but had a far way easy career as there was a lot of other great batsmen around him Everytime he goes to bat..Lara actually hardly had that comfort so BC Lara should be considered the greatest of all time giving the fact that west Indies side was a well depleted one in Lara era and he still strive and beat the odds..in regards to bowling Lara thrash both spin and pace and at the end of the day any bowler even a part timer can get a great batsman out on his day ask Carl hooper
In reply to Devvvvvvv
Ask Carl Hooper with his lollipops. LOL
In reply to Mrcricket
Indeed. That being said. I don't think Lara would have looked as comfortable as Viv even if there wasn't heavy controversy before the series. That is why I would gI've the title of greatest batsman ever to Viv because literally frightened express pace bowlers which is totally unheard of
In reply to DirtyDan
Yeah...good spell. But Lara didn't touch that ball in the second innings...another terrible decision
