Cottrell salute not England coach's cup of tea

Sheldon Cottrell's wicket-taking celebration may have charmed many and created an army of imitators, but Trevor Bayliss is not impressed.

I doubt Cottrell's intention was to impress the insignificant Trevor Bayliss

"It probably pisses me off more than anyone else," he said. "If you're older than about 40 years old it pisses you off.

So he's a "Get off my lawn" kind of fella lol lol lol

Anyway, I'm over 40, and I love it.

Initially TriniD didn't like de salute either, but it has grown on TriniD, particularly because he has been saluting so effing much.

And dat's de key. He supports his "entertainment" wid real effing results.

Gwaaaaan soljer. TriniD is looking forward to many salutes on Friday.

Obviously Corterell has been successful otherwise this would not be an issue

Cricket lovers the world over are patiently and eagerly waiting to see what Fabian Allen’s wicket celebration is like

The more salute we have from Cottrell, the better. I would go as far as to suggest that Cottrell does a double salute when his victim is an English top order batsman.

jelfew 2019-06-12 21:33:43

I only hope he does not fall over backward.

Dhoni was in the military also am sure he supports Cottrell lol

BeatDball 2019-06-12 22:23:24

In reply to Runs I dont think he ever served in the IA...has been accorded an honorary rank of LTC. Now, what if I were to tell you that if I didnt quit the NYARNG...that would have probably been my rank? Or a Major? Was a 1st Lieutenant (P), when I quit...dont assk why! Eh, eh, smart-man!?

Fabian Allen is never a bowler. He is a batsman who can bowl. He has a pathetic record in list - A. On the other hand he has good record in FC cricket as a batsman.

I am still baffled why these selectors are selecting this kid for ODI’s as a bowler, he doesn’t even merit the selection as a batsman in the squad in ODI. He belongs to test cricket based on his good FC batting record.

I'm not a fan of the way England fans moan Rooooooooooot every time Joe hits a boundary but I have learnt to live with it. I suggest Bayliss does the same.

BTW, it's good to see the Cottrell salute getting lots of votes on cricinfo....

sudden 2019-06-13 11:44:22

i have to agree with Bayliss here. a salute especially the manner in which Cotts does it is quite silly looking.

unnuh does talk about colonialism all the time but isnt that a vestige of the english army etiquette where the subordinate salutes the superior officer?

my school had /has a huge army cadet corp and in fact we supply most of the Bim Defence Force officers but i never joined because i hated calling anyone sir and all that saluting and marching shoite.

fuck off with all that. fuck the military and fuck Cotterel silly fucking salute. find an african or jamaican war dance please

So, it's the execution that's the problem, not the practice?

US presidents are often seen saluting mere army ranks. Are ranks "superior" to presidents?

I find it difficult to reconcile that you would opt out of the school's army cadet corp for the displeasure of calling someone "Sir", yet all this happened within the confines of an institution where you were bound to call your male teachers "Sir" and you had to subscribe to certain rituals associated with any Caribbean school.

While at it, do you also recommend we change just about every institution and practice inherited from the "colonial masters"? What would such a society look like?

lol confused

if i call anyone sir you can be sure i say it sarcastically and with little regard for the opinions of the person being addressed or the person himself
