vindication for Richard Pybus

Should never fire the coach.

sunfish 2019-06-19 03:03:17

Agreed. And they did it weeks before a major ICC event. Just stupid..

Domic 2019-06-19 07:23:17

I love it when we all hail Gayle. He calls himself the Universe boss but looking at his career he often goes through a dry spell then some apprx. 10 games later comes and scores big 100 and we are all happy.

I was under the impression that we had moved forward but it appears since this new look admin has arrived we are set to go backwards. I took all the rest of my year's vacation to follow this team and the performances so far says alot. Anyone can lose but when you offer no fight then my question is why am i here. We brought back Gayle, Carlos and an injured Russell to date without much return. We brought in Darren who has not played the game for sometime. I want to see us compete at the highest level as a team not as individuals.

Should never fire the coach.

Agreed, As much as I thought that he should never have been appointed as coach, the team culture was changing under him. I was totally opposed to changing the coach and even selectors (maybe Brown) so close to the world cup. There was improvement in the team without that I thought was bearing fruit.
The team selection is flawed. Kemo paul should have been selected, and Braithwaite out.
Dj bravo, variation and lower order to the batting. Even miller as spinner. I was iffy about russell, with his injuries. Now I am downright pissed with him.
Gayle is Gayle, and if he does not want to leave on a bang then its his call. but so far damn dissapointing.
I was not happy with the batting in our first win.

Tekiteazy nuh man ... By the way, I heard that the players showed a little or no respect for Tricky Dick during his brief tenure as coach. One example I heard was that Tricky Dick wanted to declare before tea during the Barbados test and the captain and players overruled him. Imagine that. A coach gives instruction to declare and the players tell him to fork off smile

No, Natty. The choice was between Carlos and Paul. Even if Paul were there, he and Russell would have been in the same team. It's not an either Russell or Paul question...

POINT 2019-06-20 14:30:56

It is in my opinion exceedingly Stupid
to hire Coaches from Overseas , when WE have former Great Players who can do the Job of being the Coach .

It was not any Coach from Overseas
who made our Players win 2 consecutive
World Championships in the shortest
version of the game .

My take is that the animosity by
those in the WICBC towards Our Players that has spawned this
Idiotic thinking .

For someone like you to get hired out of SVG, then to think that only regional coaches should be hired, say a lot about your post.
We have Simmons as a HC in Afghanistan, Otis in South Africa and Walsh in Bangladesh.
Your thinking will stop our former players from getting jobs overseas, even our young players from being contracted for teams.

Which great former player is now a great coach, these great players were once hired by the Board: Lloyd, Viv, Hall, Carew, Marshall, Roberts, Big Bird, Walsh, Haynes, Greenridge, Dijon,Hooper,Ambrose, Gibbs Sobers., Adams.
The only great player the WIC did not hired was JC, however Johnson Charles was instead.

Pacy 2019-06-21 06:10:44

Inspite all the disappointment, the overwhelming consensus here is that WI will not win much before the WC. Their win against the Pakistanis and a decent showing against Aussies gave some hope which is lost real quick with the performance against the Bangladeshis.

The sacking of coaches and selectors, just before the WC, was not a good move. Also a team filled with bits and pieces players with no proper batsmen was a cause for concern from the start. Except for Hope and Bravo are the only 2 batsmen who can play time. Pooran was a surprise this WC. Our bowling was aggressive to start with but now teams are prepared for our short pitched barrage and we do not have answers.

From now on I expect WI to beat Afghanistan. WI , even competing in any other match would be a surprise for me.

Perhaps you should contact Jason, Darren and Kemar and confirm what I said instead of making a fool of yourself online.

So, I am to believe you did what you now ask me to do, and in confidence, you were told what is said below? To quote you: "the players showed a little or no respect for Tricky Dick during his brief tenure as coach. One example...", and, "the players tell him to fork off". You were told all this by all three of these players and you thought it was in good taste to come on here and reveal what was said in private? That's the take-way, here? While at it, can you tell us why the players mentioned felt the need to say what they did in public, was it even necessary?

Tekiteazy nuh man ... By the way, I heard that the players showed a little or no respect for Tricky Dick during his brief tenure as coach. archangel 2019-06-21 09:58:11

So the coach wanted the captain to declare and the captain and players decided not to and that is perceived as a diss?

I am having a hard time coming to that conclusion.
But then we West Indians are so dramatic.

If Jason Holder had gone along with the suggestion you would hear he was a yes man.
Either way, disagreement was going to look bad on someone. lol

thank you for wanting to discuss this issue with me. your concerns merit atttention, so i will address them, and try to do so in the manner you prefer.

i will control my rage over how regional "journalists" have failed west indies cricket.

here goes:
I have no axe to grind for either party.

prove that. of course, you could say "i doh have to prove anything to you".
If in my opinion the board is wrong I will say so.

opinion...yes.

but what about TRUTH...FACTS. we all have opinions, but journalist should base theirs upon TRUTH and FACTS, not bias and payola.

this is NOT an accusation, but can you say if you have ever accepted considerations from the wicbandits?

i am not saying or implying that you have. i pefer to ask politely.

in cozier's "opinion", the board is never wrong and wipa never right, but that does not gel with the TRUTH and FACTS.

i don't know if you have ever said they were wrong on the past, and even now you have not said that they were wrong about gayle, sarwan, simmons and deo.
The same goes for Wipa or the players.

in issues between wipa and the bandits, when was wipa wrong?

when were the players, as a body, wrong on any issue involving their employment by the bandits????

how can "the same go for wipa or the players" when the bandits are always wrong and always proven to be wrong.

help me out there...point me to just 1 article you wrote and published saying that the board was wrong.

you had 15 opportunities so far. just 1...that's all i ask.

point me to one ocasion when wipa was proven wrong.
not in your opinion...PROVEN wrong.
I have not always agreed with either entity.

agree/disagree is fine...that's your prerogative.

but as a journalist, ehtics dictate that you write TRUTH...not how you feel, because even though wipa is always right and the bandits always wrong, but you guys do not write that. you do not write the TRUTH.

you write what you feel, and that's wrong.
Tony Cozier is an icon, regarded by many as one of, if not the best commentator to have described the game.

ICON MY ARSE, excuse my contempt, please. he has earned it.

he's an old, outdated commentator, fit for his day but an anachronism now.

he does not know when to stop. his days as a commentator are over.

he does not realise that his days of covering up for the bandits and painting the players black are over.

he has failed to recognise the information era and that people like him do not control what the public knows/not knows any more.

in the past, he would have been able to help cover the wrongs revealed in those judgements and mislead the public with lies like those he published in his "honeymoon" claptrap.

now everyone has the full judgement, so his lies were exposed BEFORE he published them.

how can you admire such a man??? you have more guts than a calabash, man.
The bile that flows so freely on the mb is incredible. The intolerance exhibited here is exactly the type that exists within some sections of the WICB.

cozier's lying and misleading in his honemoon article were incredible (but i eh hear/see you say so, though).

so people must tolerate his lying and misleading of the unsuspecting public????

why? who is he to lie blatantly and deliberately and be tolerated???

is lying a divine right of journalists?

what you think of what he knowingly try to do to wavell???

i'm sorry, but he has earned any and all bile offloaded on him here.

you have his latest article and you have the facts
as set out in the sarwan and simmons judgments that are in your possession...and his too.

why don't you do a piece comparing what that liar wrote with the facts and give your opinion of his "iconic" journalism???

how do you expect people to respect you guys when you fail to discharge your duty...your obligation..as journalists to tell the public the TRUTH???

you are the journalist, you are a member here, but it was i, the non-journalist, who first exposed the wrongdoing of the bandits in the sarwan and simmons cases here.

i scooped you, crossy.

are you proud of that? i am. you see, i am not a journalist.

and when the public finally finds out that you all were misleading them by commission or omission, why can't you understand the contempt we now have for you all?

i don't know if you have noticed that it's not just me.

almost everyone here comments unfavourbly on how you guys have been protecting the bandits and spreading their lies over the years, and how much damage that has done to west indies cricket.

are you proud of that???

the voice of the people is the voice of god...you journalists like to say that. so believe it now.

there...you have my response. no epithets... articulate, though you probably won't accept that.

i would not be unhappy to be proven wrong about you because, for one thing, dinas thinks that you are ok, and for another, you seem to have seen the writing on the wall and ae making the sensible adjustments.

give me reason to change my mind. one swallow dos not a summer make, but if you give me one occasion when you wrote that the bandits were wrong and wipa was right, i will consider it.
and btw...it's not "wipa or the players". that could be a subliminal slip of your tongue that perhaps betrays your divisive perception of wipa.

wipa and the players are one and the same. try to understand and accept that.

i await your response, hopefully laden with TRUTH an FACTS, not OPINION.

i know is a lot, but out of respect for your reaching out to me, i could do no less than give a detailed reply.

i trust you will adress my points as i did yours...seriously and sincerely.
