Coats resigned a few days after Agent Orange made that call to the President of Ukraine

Or his female deputy, both resigned on the same day, but it might be someone lower in the chain.

That might be true. Plus he is no where around this story. By now someone would have interviewed him given the amount of experts offering there there 2 cents - yet he is not even mentioned. I think the media know who the whistle blower is but they have agreed to not say to protect him and the process. You might be right.

Don't you think the whistleblower is still in his current position and that is the reason why he/she is so far sticking strictly to the process?

I considered that and the fact that the whistleblower complaint was filed approximately three weeks after the telephone call in question, well after the date of the Coats resignation. It is more likely that the whistleblower is still a federal employee, but Coats also could still technically have been a federal employee on the date when the whistleblower complaint was filed.
