Is that part of the Reifers initiative?
They have been talking about it for sometime, for CCC.

Fast bowling clinic travels to Guyana

T
he bowling clinic which is being conducted around the Caribbean Region, gives bowlers, both male and female, between the ages of 16 and 22 the opportunity to show off their skills

Basically, we’re going around the Region and we’re trying to find some young fast bowlers. So we’re going around with the speed gun and we’re going to test for fellas with the fastest speed,” he explained.
Dewar gave a breakdown of what the programme would entail when the selected bowlers leave for the performance centre at in Barbados.
“Then, we’re going to bring them back to UWI Cave Hill at the High Performance Centre and introduce them to the scientific side of sport. So, we’re gonna look at biomechanics, nutrition, strength and conditioning. And we’re also going to introduce the height to level three coaching,” Dewar stated.
He further elaborated that the programme at Cave Hill, Barbados would allow for the participants to interact and learn from the likes of Pedro Collins and Floyd Reifer, among others.

four-five years from now the stark reality that this was just a failed initiative/experiment will smack them flush in the face.

you can live the life of a gym-rat and develop enough explosive power to hurl a cricket ball at 200mph but, if you cannot carry on as though you have sense in your flippin' head. all the hard physical work you put in will turn to zero, zilch, nada and the cupboard will still lay bare!

observe those gymnasts with all the upper body strength, big arms / biceps, massive thighs and calves. consider the explosive power of the vaulters and those who compete in the floor exercises. if they do not stick those landings, might as well bid any chance of medalling goodbye.

a fast bowler can have the explosive power of a stallion but without the ability to access pitch response from the get go and the ability to place the ball in good areas consistently while maintaining proper line and length - stick the landing - success will be far and in-between.

...recognizing and exploiting vulnerabilities of the batsman one bowls to requires more than gym workouts and developing explosive power in the upper body. it takes mental strength and muscle memory to maintain accuracy - a different skill-set altogether. it involves lots of nurturing and mentoring at the earliest possible time with the candidate being willing to listen, open to learn quickly and show a hunger in his belly for bowling accurate and on target.
