Former West Indies fast bowler turned pundit Ian Bishop has lamented somewhat of a tumultuous introduction to global T20 cricket in the Caribbean, which he believes has set the region back.
The shortest format of the game, which began to gain prominence in the mid-2000s, initially had a bumpy introduction to the region as leagues clashed with the schedule of international cricket.
“In the West Indies initially, there was a bad effect on the game since the administrators did not know the value of T20 cricket and the ability of a player as a sole contractor where they had to choose when they wanted to play. We did not handle that well. We lost a few significant players from West Indies cricket for a period of time I wish did not happen,” Bishop told the Hindustan Times.

...because TT dominated
...because the best players were the ones demanding money (Gayle, DR Smith, Bravo)
...because we are insular and like the King & subjects business model

Yeah Bish has point, administrators were archaic to put it mildly. They play into hands of some self serving cricketers

WHY IS ANYONE IN THIS FORUM
SURPRISED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In this forum I have continuously stated the fact that the WICBC/CWI
is the Worst International Cricket
Board in the Commonwealth .
That is precisely why I have been
continuously critical of the WICBC/CWI. For years the people in the WICBC/CWI have commissioned Reports , Regarding its Structure , yet there has been no serious Structural change regarding its archaic Structure .
The WICBC/CWI can get away with this
because in the Region , those who claim to be Sports Journalists are
Allies of the Worst International Cricket Board in the Commonwealth .
Those in the WICBC/CWI , since its
formation relish treating the Players
as their Serfs , and in my opinion ,
that mentality still pervades in the
WICBC/CWI .
The manner in which Bravo was treated is a classic example of what is abhorrent about the WICBC/CWI . He was punished twice for the same offense .
One would think that the President of
the WICBC/CWI would have ascertained precisely what level Contract Bravo had , before making his statement ,
That to him was unimportant ; however
it was important to Bravo who made an
unfortunate remark .
Bravo was sent home , and then banned, I would readily agree that
Bravo should not have made the remark he made , I don't recall that Bravo was given a hearing , in essence He was punished twice for the same offense .
I cite the above to illustrate that the WICBC , seem to inherent the behaviour of those who started the
WICBC and were of a different complexion than Our Players .
While it is true that currently the
WICBC/CWI , and Our Players are of the same skin colour, Those currently in the WICBC/CWI , relish behaving like those who who started the WICBC/
CWI .
The stark freaking fact is that unless the People in the WICBC understand that there Must be a genuine partnership between the WICBC/CWI and our Players .
Unless this is genuine , WE will be
Running very Fast , yet finding Ourselves , at or near the Bottom of
International Cricket .
