West Indies bowler, Alzarri Joseph, added a tidy two-wicket haul to a maiden half-century to help put English County club Worcestershire in a commanding position against Nottinghamshire at New Road.

Chasing a sizeable first innings score of 436, Nottinghamshire crumbled for 276, despite 111 from opener Haseeb Hameed and not losing their first wicket until they had put 115 runs on the board.

Charlie Morris had the best bowling figures for Worcestershire, after taking 3 for 30 but Joseph chipped in with 2 for 33.  The West Indies accounted for top-order batsman Ben Duckett and Nottinghamshire were then forced to follow on still some 160 runs short of the target.

Whilst it’s great that Joseph is showing that’s his improvement in batting is no flash in the pan, I would much rather he took heaps of wickets and showed great improvement in his bowling. Of course there is plenty of time in this English season for this to happen but at the moment he seems to just be picking up a wicket here and thereAnd I’m sure that his county have greater expectations than this

The county seems to be okay with AlJo's performances.

BTW, bowling is not just about numbers.

Jason Gillispie and Irfan Pathan.....both very good bowlers..... suddenly, tried to be all rounder.....their bowling suffered.... Gillispie dropped after scoring double hundred against Pakistan and Pathan ,the bowler who tormented Aussie...a hatrick against Pakistan, retired prematurely...Bottom line..... Joseph must concentrate solely on getting wickets.... establish himself as genuine fast bowler...then think of improving his batting... otherwise.....?????
