About time.
Look how long he has been anointed. That's way before Czar Nicholas' ascendency.
This sounds logical to me.
Can't be any worse than the incumbent and his predecessor .....
The problem with Pooran is that based on recent scores, he shouldn't be selected for the ODI team. Making Shai Hope captain won't solve the problem. However, nothing beats a trial but a failure.

what problem we solving again?

Sudden say he didn't go to Cawmere so strike he off de list!

There is a good chance that Hope does not want the job. Is he vice captain for the ODIs or is it Powell?
Making Roston Chase test VC probably cost him his place in the team. Chase had a chance to captain WI to Bangladesh in conditions that would ideally suit both his batting and bowling. He decided he wanted a bubble rest and the rest ins history (Side note: he was VC for St. Lucia CPL team and opted out of the cappo job when DuPlessis was injured)

Shai Hope also had a chance to captain the ODI team to Bangladesh and turned it down
I am not a psychologist, despite some training.
I believe that Shai Hope issues are mental.
Same with Dee-rat kholi, Morgan, Williamson, Holder, Stokes, Root etc.
A lot of these men have serious issues and need counseling.
Disclamer: I am not fully qualified.
Don't cuss me, just an opinion.

What mental issues yuh talking bout?
Hopefully not the episode when he openly dissed the "legend" UB for not taking sharp singles.

When boys, take on men's role,
they generally needs mentorship.
We take boys and make them heroes, multimillionaire,
celebrities, stars, etc overnight.
What is the outcome,
they buy the biggest goldchains, cars etc.,
behave pompous, arrogant, etc.
some of them needs the appropriate counseling, mentors, etc.
I do not know if Shai has those mentors / counsellors etc.
Like I said, I am not speaking from a point
of having interview Shai or anyone on the list.
I am just analyzing from my watching their lives.
I can be wrong.
Hope has been very inconsistent with the bat of late. One good score in every two series isn't good enough especially if he were to become the leader. Teams will capitalize on his weakness like all the others.

I agree.
he is not like the current or past cappo,
who lighting/lighted up the scoreboards.

I would need to write a book to explain . However, the problem is losing.

i want to suggest we focus more on fundamentals...any chance of winning consistently will be thru that mainly...having a stable captain who wants to lead a certain way helps

Any stats available covering the past 30 yrs which supports the fantasy of a stable WI captain being successful at long-form with a bunch of inept players?
In reply to VIX
the last time i showed you stats you had none of it
remember?
NZ here we come

I would prefer Hope to not accept the ODI captaincy if offered .He should be allowed to concentrate on his batting .He already has the burden of being the wicket keeper and the main batter who so much is expected of him.
Just saw an article where it was suggested that he takes a break from white ball cricket and get an English County season and returns to the Test side batting at 5 or 6 .
I have been suggesting this for years .
I would say no. Not to be a scapegoat again. The captaincy is not the problem, it goes much deeper than that. Remember, Pollard had some success as captain and so did Pooran. ODI cricket requires the ability to bat for 50 overs while keeping the run rate ticking over. It is a skill that very few of our batters have.

Would you mind posting both Shai's and Nic's last 12 ODI scores s/R and avg? Could you then break it down vs top 5 teams?? I'll wait.
Hope for captain..best batsman in the odi team..and fortunately for WI.. will never be picked by ipl teams..win win..
