ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced the appointments of the new Head Coaches for the West Indies Senior Men’s Teams. Andre Coley has been appointed Head Coach for the Test and ‘A’ Teams and Daren Sammy has been appointed the Head Coach for the white ball One Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) Teams.

The new Head Coaches were selected following an open and transparent interview process, and the appointments were confirmed following the CWI Board of Directors meeting on Thursday 11 May.

Daren Sammy’s first assignment will be the three-match ODI Series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Sharjah in June, ahead of the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. Andre Coley’s first assignment will be the two-match Test Series against India in the Caribbean in July.

not convinced by coley but sammy is inspirational and attacking so that has to be a good thing

I am skeptical about both appointments..... A Coley...In recently concluded test series against South Africa...I was not at all impress with his team selection or tactics...he was very defensive, conservative and did not bring anything new what Simmons already did and failed....despite the fact that Lara was consultant.....his appointment to me is missed opportunity to build a good test team.

Sammy...As a captain, he did admirably specially in white ball cricket..was a great man management person... with several temperamental players......but as Head Coach apart from Peshawar Zalmi Head Coach... nothing to write about.....I have doubts, whether he will be able to lift the side in qualifiers... very recently,he was appointed as independent director of CWI, now he has become Head Coach... Whether it's not conflict of interest???
I would have preferred a foreigner Head Coach, with Sammy as consultant...only after resignation from the post of Director....
Bro, 2023 ODI will be without West Indies...Poor team selection and rudderless Team management....

Finally Sammy's clapping skills will come in to good use!

He should be captain/coach!

It did not, Narine, Bravo, Charles, Badree, Samuels, Gayle, Simmons, Fletcher Benn and dem odder
men won WI two trophies DESPITE THE EXTRA WEIGHT OF Sammy drawing dem dung. One good innings in about
16 matches and maybe one good bowling performance

Two things to note....Sammpy was a successfull cappo with a world class team....

Now he is coach to piss poor team(s)....in both white ball formats....and they didn't become piss poor overnight...almost all the players have been around the block many times....under the IceCreamMan

Hope Sammy's shoulders still strong...I have seen him disappointed in the CPL....and he didn't clap and smile.

But I believe Sammy is capable....I believe he is much more knowledgeable today than he was when he played.....
