Barry G was an icon on the radio when I lived in Jamaica in the 1980's and had a very loyal following.I remember Ronnie Twaites coming on immediately after him and one of Barry G's fans called in to talk to Barry G and Ronnie said, sorry but this is Ronnie T.
RIP Mr. Barry Gordon,you have earned your rest.

Barry was 2 to 6 supermix. Ronnie Twaites was earlier. I think it was Public Eye. It competed with Hotline (Dick Pixley then Barbara Gloudon)

Walk Good icon! Contemporaries like David Rodigon must be gutted. Heard that after a stroke some yrs ago BarryG took himself to Miami for medical assistance.

Very sad..Barry G was a trendsetter ..I enjoyed listening to his programs back in the day…As Brezerk said those clashes with David Rodigan were epic…
I remember when he purchased a bright red convertible (or was it yellow?) - memory lapsing - and was the talk of the town.he also married the daughter of Hurry Hurry Sinclair (of Sinclair's Bargain Center fame)…walk good Barry G..

Just remember- He was so popular that emcee Tommy Cowan had A Barry G joke between acts.
Prettycountry girl hitchhiking to town and Barry drives up. Girl gets in and after a few miles Barry drives off road into a lonely beach spot. Noticing that the girl was shy Barry pointed to what by then was a bulge and asked "do you know what that is? Excitedly, girl said yes as Barry unzipped. Gyal grabbed "it" and said "Greetings to my madda n faada, brodda Steve, sista Jean an' Pat; last but not least special greetings to my cousin Jerry.

I didn't know he was still ailing - the last I saw of him was his baptism a few years ago!
I gathered later that he had sufficiently recovered from a stroke to resume his gig on the radio!
I worked with him on a few advertising and sales promotional programs back in the day!
A cool dude - the G.O.A.T. Disc Jock!
