In all tge decades I have lived here I don’t remember feeling cold like dis. Every window is closed and I a wearing a sweater. The wind factor is real.
word is all water sport has been stopped and there are huge waves on the coast. It’s 57 in Mandeville and 59 in the Blue Mountains.
should be warmer by Wednesday. It has been colder than usual since Saturday.
I’m betting records are being broken.

Yes, winter has visited Jamaica and a few other northern Caribbean countries. Could return again next week, according to forecast.

Yup! If any winter is gonna do it, it will be this one. Anyway, as I mentioned here recently, I have experienced 59°F weather there in Kingston in he first half of the 1970s, so I'm not surprised.

My Goodness, 61F and you call that Winter?
What will you call minus 13 F (and that is without windchill)
And even so I saw a few guys in shorts at Costco and a lady in slippers and PJs shoveling her driveway.

It was a nice cool weather, just screw up the water sports as you said. I see the expectation is for another one to pass by this weekend.

It's all relative you know......
People living in Oymyakon, Siberia, Russia... is the coldest permanently inhabited place on Earth, with temperatures plunging to -96 deg F.... this village of roughly 500 residents experiences brutal winter conditions where schools close only if temperatures drop below -52 deg C (-61.6 deg F)
They would look at the USA and Canada winter weather as their Summer...

It’s not relative; it’s a simple case of what you’re accustomed to and what you expect
all this mine is bigger than yours business completely misses the point and diminishes people’s experiences and observations
and is sad 😀

We CAN agree it's all relative AND we don't diminish people's experiences.
It's like someone saying they lost a leg and they are suffering... but then someone comes along and says... you think you are suffering... I lost both legs..... I get it, both are suffering...

Embracing Winter in Canada
Many Canadians cherish winter for the myriad activities it offers. For instance, sliding down the slopes of places like the Blue Mountains can be exhilarating, though temperatures can plunge as low as -40°C! Chased me away last weekend.
Winter carnivals in Ottawa and Quebec showcase the festive spirit, while skating on the frozen Rideau River, especially enjoyed by Canadians from Carleton University to the University of Ottawa, makes for memorable experiences. Other beloved activities include visiting the iconic ice hotel in Quebec City, snowmobiling through snowy trails, cross-country skiing across serene landscapes, winter camping under starry skies, and ice fishing on tranquil lakes.
Despite facing harsher winters, residents in Manitoba and Eastern Canada embrace the cold with preparation and enthusiasm. The changing seasons offer unique perspectives and experiences, making winter an integral part of the Canadian identity.

What a simple remark to make, if the Dr. who is living in Ja reports that she is cold when the temp is 61 and required a Sweater, believed her. At 61 degrees in JA you should wear such attire. I am assuming that when the temp reaches 10 below you are outside in Shorts.

In Canada 61 deg F is not classified as cold.
Air Conditioning systems in Summer days are set at about 68 deg F...
At 10 deg C , many Canadians wear Bermuda shorts.
Its presently minus 14 deg C.....to my vehicle and off to Supermarket, I am wearing two Tee shirts and blue Jeans ....not a problem.
Old Seniors will have problems it depends on their blood circulation. (feet and hands)

My, my! That's some serious temps you guys are experiencing. Didn't I hear somewhere that it was so cold there for so long that the falls are not 'falling' anymore, and that the area is to be renamed Niagara Stills? HeHeHe!
@Chrissy
That 1977 winter is indelible in my mind. Extreme and extended cold spell in the Yankee northeast too, spawning even a blizzard. I was at lunch in the canteen at uni when the weatherman remarked that there were reports of snow flurries in the Blue Mountains in JA. (Never was able to verify with anyone back home though.)

I have family & friends in T.O who do this every year... matter of fact, it's coming up shortly, this month. I offered to join last year, but I couldn't really convince myself I really wanted to go/have that experience. It looks good tho from all the pics and videos I've seen from their past trips.

Sad; "officious Aholes" is certainly the right way to describe them. Maybe a child will get sick and his/her parents file a lawsuit.
