An air traffic controllers? strike in Guyana has delayed the departure of three members of the West Indies touring party for the VB one-day series in Australia. The squad, minus the Guyanese and captain Brian Lara (who was delayed in Trinidad by unfinished personal business), assembled in Barbados on Wednesday and departed for Australia, via the U.K. FULL STORY

HEADLINE: Team Leaves Without Lara, Guyanese
In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com: Unfinished personal business?? Here we facting go again. Let's see how Mr King handles this. This chump should really be stripped of the captaincy. Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuupppsssssssss..........!!
WIPA union connections in GT strand half de batting prowess in GT.
In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com: Is there ever a tour,a camp or a news conference where Lara is not delayed, late or tending to some business or the other. It is astonishing that there always is some problem that causes him to miss being where he should be for WI cricket.
See, now even the workers in the air traffic booth in mudland are inspired by the "militant" WIPA..... WIPA is leading the way....
In reply to Dukes: How many games has Lara missed for WI again?
I would prefer to see the team all leaving at once. It has been known that the team had to leave on the 29th for some time now. Staying behind to complete 'personal' business does not look good. Unless of course it is an urgent family medical matter or something of similar importance.
Thought the team was departing Barbados at 5.50 pm this evening, the thread suggests that the team has already left, and for the record the jamaicans aint leaving with them either, they are supposed to join the team in London later. Too love to bash Lara, first it was Hoops, now Lara, wonder who next. All ya never cease to amaze.
In reply to imusic: I am just leaving to go to another job,so I will not respond until much later. Why don't you be intellectually honest and admit that because Lara is a superstar he behaves in a totally reprehensible way.this is bollocks and you know it.If an ordinary player does any crap like that he would be fined heavily. the reality is that Lara does what he feels like and we put up with it because we need him. Ah gone
In reply to crapaud: He had to wait for payday to pick up his CW check.
An air traffic controllers? strike in Guyana Wa-de-raaass Guyana need traffic controllers fa? Is one plane coming and going. Look stick yuh head out de window, if you don't hear any noise tek off.
Unfinished business means unfinished business. Mr Lara, handle yuh business. TriniD doh care what it is. IT cud be dat yuh need ah extra dose of mangoes and grapes. Whatever you do, de haters will hate, and yuh cyah stop dat. Respect.
The team is not traveling together - they are supposed to meet in London tomorrow. Allyuh get yuh facts right.
Team departs London for Australia on Friday, jamaicans to join the team on Friday, why wunna doan cuss them an forget about Brian, he gine soon put somebody in a small coma, wunna ain't got nuttin better to do.....get over it. When the team leaves London on Friday it will be as a team.....together......damn.

In reply to Chrissy: So how people must know.. CC.com story didn't say that hahahahahaha CC.com breaking news do it again
In reply to dax: I think there is that whole Parang to soca tent opening thing.......
The team is playing a aussie 11 on the 7of jan. So if lara and rest is not there i dont think they will be able to play.Lara should have sorted out this days ago before he left.

In reply to cherri: Cherri I was reliably hinformed that the Jamaicans left Jamaica today!!!! Are you trying to obfuscate for the sake of your boyfriend here?
InsuLARR, I een know who informed you because the yardies are leaving tonight.
In reply to Chrissy: Is tonight part of today?
Here is the text of the WICB release 29 December St. John's, Antigua - The West Indies team for the VB Triangular series in Australia left the region today. Most of the 14-man squad assembled in Barbados for the departure to London on their way to Australia. The tri-nation tournament includes Pakistan along with the hosts Australia and the West Indies. The first game for the West Indies will be against hosts Australia on January 14 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The squad is led by Brian Lara and includes: Shivnarine Chanderpaul (vice captain); Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo, Ryan Hinds, Courtney Browne, Ian Bradshaw, Xavier Marshall, Pedro Collins, Mervyn Dillon and Reon King. The manager is Mr Anthony Howard and coach is Bennett King. Also accompanying the squad will be assistant coach/analyst, David Moore; physiotherapist, Stephen Partridge and Media Liaison, Imran Khan. An air traffic controllers? strike in Georgetown, Guyana has delayed the departure of three members of the touring party while captain Brian Lara has been delayed in Trinidad by unfinished personal business. This will be the first assignment for the team since the West Indies won the ICC Champions Trophy event last September in England and it will also be the first time the team plays under the guidance of King. It will also mark the beginning of the team?s association with Digicel, the new sponsors of West Indies cricket. Before leaving for Australia, King said he would be looking for consistency from his charges. ?They have already proven they can beat any side in the world,? he said. ?What is needed now is consistency,? he added. King said there was ?no better way? to start his international coaching career than to compete against the best team in the world. ?This tournament presents an opportunity to measure against the best according to the ICC One Day-International rankings and another team that is in the top half of the table,? he concluded.
So you take that seriously - stewwwwwwwwwps. The yardies are leaving tonight.
In reply to jamgirl: steuuupppsssssss I was told that they were leaving today....meaning the 29th of DECEMBER...I wasnt given a flight time...... The facting press release from the WICB confirmed it!!! Lara should have been leaving TODAY at some point too.... Is that so hard to understand?
In reply to larr: Diffent thing yuh sdaying now......so yuh agree wid Chrissy den....dem yardies leaving tonight...not left today. Yuh a pull a wifan pon we? you saying they left today and leaving tonight, which s it?
Oh gawd peeps what is the big deal if they leave today, tonight or yesterday, ah can see alyuh really bored
In reply to jamgirl: tonight is part of today for the sake of this argument...... For the semantified amongst us, they leaving on 12/29/2004....
In reply to larr:
Listen up peeps. I is de kind ah man dat like to grieve wid me bretheren. I will not cuss fa a week outta ah respeck fa mi brudda Horsey who has loss a love one. But wunna tempting me. leave lara alone. Suppose de personal business is death or sickness to a love one. That is why it is called personal business. Not the team's or yours but Lara's business. Lara is always there to play and he will be there this time as well. Wish de team well and leave the oddities out of it. _______________________________________________- Nuff respeck Horsey. Remember that ya dad lives on in you. Continue the great works that he has started and remember, live each day to make him proud. Only then will you honour his memory. De Merle.
In reply to TanteMerle: Think was him and Bravo who had left camp for personal business too. Still in the EPL for example, its a more professional environment and you are supposed to report back by a certain time, if you don`t its trouble. Ask Yorke or a Reggae Boy who happen to reach back late after a match. Its his business but he is a part of the team, hence everyone`s business.
Larr, My boyfriend will be on his plane tomorrow winging his way to London, would have left today but had to deal with something, when the team leaves on Friday he will be there with the remainder of the team. Still can't understand why his not travelling with the team is of concern, the entire team is not leaving barbados, four jamaicans, three guyanese and one trinidadian not on the flight and ya taking issue with Lara, get real man, just saw the guys in the airport and them seem to be quite comfortable, a real happy bunch playing around with the coach and so on......get over it.
For those of you who don't know, Lara travels on a diplomatic passport. So regardless of what he aint travelling wid de team anyway.
In reply to crapaud:
In reply to ProWI: Its a worry that almost all the others are ready to leave but Lara has 'personal' business to do. It also FEELS like that is a recurring problem with Lara...never ready on time to travel with the team. Maybe I have formed that view from malicious gossip on this MB and elsewhere. If that's the case I take it back. This is not a good example. He probably needs to decide which takes priority; his 'personal' business or the captaincy. With the honour of captaincy comes sacrifice and responsibility and team working.
In reply to Chrissy: Is it your policy to accept assignments from students after the deadline set has passed? If yes (which i doubt highly) do you penalize the student for the late submission? PPl in this world have a lot of double standards. Most professionals recognise that it is unprofessional to miss deadlines set, however, because the name of the person in question is brian lara ppl are seeking to defend this stupidity. Lara new from the time the camp ended that the touring party would have been leaving on the 29th of december 2004. Even if he didn't kno then that he would be on the team....subsequent to that a commnique was sent out listing him in the team and holding the position of captain. Watever business lara had should have been wraped up before the 29th so that he would be available to leave with his team and be seen as the leader. I have heard lots of ppl call the WICB unprofessional.....wat do u call lara's behaviour then? I call it childish. I don't even care wat the business was....he coulda holding a shite....it doesn't matter. He should have been in barbados on the 29th and on the same plane as the rest of the touring party thatw as to meet in Barbados. The actions of the jamaicans have nothing to do with lara........it is obvious that their sitution was prearranged becasue they are flights from jamaica to london. If at 35 u can't act like a grown man u have a serious problem.
CAN ANYONE OF YOU WHO ARE MOUTHING OFF AGAINST LARA PLEASE INFORM ME AS TO WHAT PERSONAL BUSINESS HE HAD TO TAKE CARE OF?? I WOULD BET A MILLION DOLLARS (US) THAT NO-ONE CAN. SO SHUT UP YOUR FACES. I CANNOT BELIVE THAT YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN FORCED TO CHANGE PLANS BECAUSE SOMETHING CAME UP!!! SHUT UP AND CONCENTRATE ON CRICKET.
In reply to brainchild: R U SERIOUS?
In reply to bajedre04: baje, what was the nature of the "personal business" lara had to attend to??? Please answer me that.
In reply to brainchild: Only excuse lara got is if part of his immediate family has died.....or maybe very close to dying. U think that if u were contracted by someone to do sumthing on a particular date and u did not honour that agreement that u could tell that person "opps sumthing came up!"? If this was a one off sumthing ya wouldn't even mind....ya mean de man must do it evahtime de team going somewhere?
In reply to brainchild: Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww......shut the fact up!! This is Lara's modus operandum. get off yuh facting knees man! Phew!
In reply to SpudsMcKenzie: Can YOU tell me the nature of Lara's "personal Business" Until you can you don't have a point
alyuh so malicious is wuh alyuh prefer to be doing - sporting pon old year's nite or in some rass plane somewhere? was de same complaining from alyuh when de wicb schedule cricket camp during carnival and ah couldn't mek it ...steewwps. alyuh relax..ah soon goh retire and alyuh goh miss me bad
All this does is give Lara more time to BOND with his new VC. Lara would learn what Shiv expects of him and Vice versa..
Now allyuh see why man have to ask or more money. This kina aggravation from doh come for free. Ok Dinas, next go round we asking for 50% gate receipts on top of everyting...
The JACKASSES braying again. They bray vainly, but they bray anyway.   BCL don't have to explain his actions to JACKASSES, only to WICBandits, who, if they don't like it, can APPOINT QuislingPaul captain. Since they did not, it is clear that WICbandits OK with it, so..... JACKASSES CAN SHUT UP...... :P :P since their BRAYING will change nothing. Brian does not care about BRAYING JACKASSES. Especially when is THE SAME SET OF BRAYING JACKASSES every time. :x :x Urgent personal business does not include bothering with BRAYING JACKASSES.
Let hops the lad turns up in OZ and do well for us. As you never know what will happen next.
