West Indies captain Brian Lara spoke with the media after the first day of the second test match in Multan. Following are excerpts from his responses:

On whether it was a difficult decision to drop Ramnaresh Sarwan:

It wasn't designed as a drop. I think it is a situation where we tried to play the best possible team, the best combination to get a result.

Man this freaking english is funny like hell. It was not designed as a drop.

This statement says it all. He is not dropped, he is just not good enough to play in this team. He is not part of teh right combination.

Maybe Lara was expecting that Ajokha would Juk him again and he is shiielding Sarwan.

Super Crazy this dropping of Sarwan. And although BK has some responsibility (maybe), Lara should never have been involved in this.

It is the same trickiness that Richardson did to Logie. So should a vice captain never be dropped? Yes, but only after a very long period of failure (at least 3 series, ODIs and tests included)- He should then be removed first as vice captain.

Neither Sarwan or BK should try to predict the future or direct who would be the next captain, which I think they are trying to do. :

"It is just a matter of taking what we think is the best team, that has performed"

If Saws is not a part of the best team, then what's all this talk about the greatness of Sars.

I know exactly how he feel. I was named MOM in back to back games playing for my team in Atlanta for two devastating spells of fast bowling in both games. The next game, the semi-final, I was dropped. The cappo wanted to pick the best combination for the semis. Of course, they lost. I wouldn't say I was glad, but I sure did not cry either.
Hold you head up Sars, you will bounce back.

He is going to miss five days of cricket but it is sort of designed to have a positive effect on him.

I think that was a more telling statement. The management deliberately decided to let Sarwan know that he must perform.

Well if Morton scores a 100........

I always thought that Augustine was a fool. What about you, do you believe that the vice-cpatian dropped himself, and to quote the Bible phrasing, for what did he drop himself, for Arthurton?

Well, now, come along and join the Logie camp. Captains always say what they want, as does Lara here -Where is the transparency -do you believe his reason too?

The only time some eladers tell the truth is when they write a book - So read the book, check how Lloyd planned to drop his deputy and his fear of doing that in Port of Spain, where the radical reformers and "t" people now live. :?
