django Nov 19, 2006, 7:06:29 PM

In reply to Fahim

I thought the shout against MAlik off the last ball was a pretty good one. Inside edge?

django Nov 19, 2006, 7:08:15 PM

That was OUTTTT. Colly robbed there. That was pretty plumb if not for an inside edge and I didn't see one.

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 7:08:18 PM

In reply to django
Dat was plumb lbw. Good grief.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 7:08:19 PM

Trenchant Nov 19, 2006, 7:15:19 PM

In reply to faada

Morton dropped one.

ray_ray Nov 19, 2006, 7:15:23 PM

In reply to faada

lara and morton both hard chances

faada Nov 19, 2006, 7:16:17 PM

In reply to ray_ray

thanks.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 7:16:27 PM

In reply to faada

that was the only proper drop..

the other was through a vaccant third slip, lara full stretch dive and got fingertips i think

the other one was to morton, but it fell short, just short....

all 3 off malik

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:18:08 PM

Vor back into d runnings... Lil over-snooze... 1 wicket for 38 runs, shoulda been 2. We need to make amends now!

faada Nov 19, 2006, 7:19:54 PM

In reply to Fahim

Dis Pak commentator really harping on the bad fielding tho.

I think I saw the Morton one, if that is what they calling drop then they harsh bad.

Sugar Dwayne own was a dolly tho.

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:21:31 PM

Dropped chances killing us this Test Series... What happened to the great fielding we saw through the Onedayers??

Chally1 Nov 19, 2006, 7:22:02 PM

In reply to faada Faada I agree.. Take Bravo catch away.. and I dont know why they going on so...
I think they have nothing else to talk to so they have to talk something.. Cause I think they on SHITEE

django Nov 19, 2006, 7:22:58 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

Catching has been a problem even in ODIs. Ground fielding has improved remarkably though.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 7:23:33 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

it's only one dropped catch, and one horrible ramdin moment today...that's it!

bravo comes into the attack..bravo better make up for the drop catch!!

come on dwayne!

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:23:45 PM

In reply to Fahim
By d time you come back, dem Man dismissed for less than 350.

Hanover Nov 19, 2006, 7:24:05 PM

Bravo gets a chance at redemption.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 7:24:31 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

right..i'm off!

see you guys in 20 minutes!

Kurt Nov 19, 2006, 7:27:04 PM

OK only the one really bad drop this morning and two chances in name only.

Still the catching has been really bad in thi sseries so far. Considering that only 16 Pakistani wickets have fallen all series, yet we've dropped 6 or so good chances goves a very poor convertion ratio of chances.

Which leads to the question: What has happened to the resurgence in WI fielding which we've heard so much lately.

When a usually brilliant fielder like bravo drops 2 simple chances, you have to wonder.

Hanover Nov 19, 2006, 7:27:09 PM

What's really happening out there?

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 7:28:10 PM

Quick wickets otherwise we chasing 450 here.

Kurt Nov 19, 2006, 7:30:34 PM

Time for Bravo to join Ronnie for some "Reflection time".

If it's one thing that gets my blood oiling is straightfoward chances spurned. I make Ganga and Bravo as the big culprits in that regard.

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:34:19 PM

312/5 105 ... Has there ever been a more luckless bowler than Colly?

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:36:04 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

Bravo just dropped the match probably for the windies....

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 7:36:55 PM

Amazing catch by bravo!!!

ray_ray Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:00 PM

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:02 PM

Goneeeeeeeeeeeeee! Colly strikes!!!! Bravo makes no mistake this time! Malik 45!

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:02 PM

Great catch Bravo -Colly finally gets a wicket.
315/6

dcbreds Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:19 PM

Malik is gone!

faada Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:25 PM

OK, that was a brilliant piece of athletecism, but WTF was bravo doing going for that catch?!?!?!

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:37:32 PM

In reply to clokey

Man he almost ran in to Lara's Path... Rass lucky he got hold of that....

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:38:07 PM

In reply to faada

Exactly... imagine what kind of joker he would have been if he had dropped it...

zimzimma Nov 19, 2006, 7:38:10 PM

If Bravo had ever dropped that his ass would be grass cuz that's Brian's catch. Finally poor Corey gets his just reward! PHEW!

Hanover Nov 19, 2006, 7:38:42 PM

always the hard way...spectacular, even!

ray_ray Nov 19, 2006, 7:39:40 PM

had he dropped that it would have been first place home

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:39:43 PM

If Bravo had drop dat! Lara woulda cuss! It was an easy 2 handed catch for Lara, difficult one handed vcatch for Bravo. ...Phew! Somehow Bravo prefers his catches with a greater degree of difficulty.

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:39:53 PM

Bring Jerome Tayloer now....

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 7:40:11 PM

In reply to ray_ray
If he had dropped it Brian might have been really annoyed. It was Lara's dolly catch.

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 7:40:41 PM

In reply to zimzimma
hahahaa -just said dat.

django Nov 19, 2006, 7:41:24 PM

Superb catch. The non-reaction from both Bravo and Lara showed they all knew it was Lara's catch. Great catch all the same. Come on Colly, lez get Razzak.

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:41:29 PM

In reply to Chrissy

That would have been a classic case of spilling his own milk and the other person's milk too... thank god he caught it...

Hants Nov 19, 2006, 7:42:02 PM

Bravo reacted and took the catch. who cares what might have happened.Well done Bravo.
Nuff said.

GrimReaper Nov 19, 2006, 7:43:02 PM

In reply to Chrissy

Yeah. Lara would have smacked the back of his head.

Perhaps they are too close though.

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:43:04 PM

WTF Now... Kamran akmal doesnt know to play on the leg side... put a man at short leg and get him out... BRavo is bowling dollies...

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 7:44:08 PM

In reply to Hants
Rubbish-you're only saying that because he took it. That was a straightforward catch to Lara.

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:44:13 PM

Anything More than 370 Windies are going to find it tough... they have to mop the tail ASAP....come on Bravo...

carl0002 Nov 19, 2006, 7:44:13 PM

Which 3rd slip fielder dive full tilt to their left to take a catch at 2nd slip. I glad he held on but boy. With that catch he probablhy promoted to open the inning.

gvenkat Nov 19, 2006, 7:44:57 PM

see how he sturggling to play on the leg side... he is just a facking off side player....

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 7:45:18 PM

In reply to Hants
When you in the slips, you do not take for granted that the other Man will catch it. Guess Bravo took that rule to the extreme there. He loves those difficult ones, doesnt he?

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 7:45:55 PM

how many bloody inside edges!!

thefan Nov 19, 2006, 7:50:44 PM

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 8:22:11 PM

As much as it disgusts me to say this, give D.Powell a go, see if he can finish off the tail...

Hants Nov 19, 2006, 8:22:28 PM

In reply to Chrissy
Slipfielders react when a ball leaves the edge of the bat and what Bravo did is not uncommon.
I realise he probably took a statistic notch from Lara but the catch was taken.Man out and that is what matters to me.

zimzimma Nov 19, 2006, 8:24:00 PM

Go Jerome!!!!!

GrimReaper Nov 19, 2006, 8:24:13 PM

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 8:43:51 PM

agreed, i still think Collymore should be rested now, and Powell been given a go, asmuch as a i dislike him.

django Nov 19, 2006, 8:44:55 PM

This is terrific bowling from Taylor. Bowling wide just like his captain wants. We have not had a bowler who could do that for a long time now. Not even Colly. Well bowled JT.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 8:45:10 PM

dodgy tactics from pakistan..

they seem to be playing for a draw..windies need to go for the kill..it's almost lunch..

bowl at the stumps and only at the stumps....

slower ball on the stumps to gul gonna get him

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 8:49:41 PM

there's no point bowling outside off to gul...he gonna leave everything..come on correy..bowl on the stumps..you'll get him sooner rather than later...

powell gonna get razaq now...

i smell it! lol

clokey Nov 19, 2006, 8:51:00 PM

on second thought..this wagon giving us good luck..might just keep it!!

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 9:06:10 PM

Taylor gets to lead the Team off due to his 5 fer. Brilliant performance by thw Windies to restrict them to 357 on a brilliant Batting pitch. Must have been Taylor-Made. 8)

anandgb Nov 19, 2006, 9:06:55 PM

Smart cricket by Powell there.

6 wickets in a session is good performance under any circumstances. Especially when you consider teh dropped catches.

OK. Now we need an opening partnership of over 100 from Gayle and Ganga

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 9:08:29 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

stay tuned for Gayle's century

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 10:09:55 PM

In reply to Fahim

Yep. Good batting strip this, a lil something there for the Bowlers too, esp wid the new ball. Our Batsmen need to aim for Tons.

I like the positive running though. Unsettling the bowling attack, with the rotation. 21/0

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 10:10:17 PM

good running boys...

ganga keeps strike for Gul's over...good stuff...

21/0....

zimzimma Nov 19, 2006, 10:11:37 PM

In reply to voiceofreason

gayle gonna get a record of edges....haha..most runs in edges!

if WI don;t lose a wicket now...then pakistan don't have many other bowling options...seam bowling i mean..

great!

gayle riding his luck...now time to smash a few boundaries to get confidence going!

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 10:22:50 PM

29/0 after 9... Windies setting up to unleash the fury!

django Nov 19, 2006, 10:24:09 PM

Suicidal single again from Ganga. I thought these two ran well together. No need for risky singles at the moment.

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 10:25:44 PM

In reply to django

i think ganga trying to get gayle off strike...

great thinking, and risk-taking from ganga..RESPECT cool

gayle looking much more settled now. but still yet to crack a boundary off the middle....

django Nov 19, 2006, 10:29:10 PM

Gul getting the ball to nip back in to Ganga, who is a prime lbw candidate with that shuffle. He has to be careful here.

Chrissy Nov 19, 2006, 10:33:15 PM

Kaneria on now.

voiceofreason Nov 19, 2006, 10:36:54 PM

Some turn and bounce there for Kaneria. Will be troublesome for the righties in particular. 34/0 after 12. Ganga 11* Gayle 23*

django Nov 19, 2006, 10:38:14 PM

That is a lot of turn for Kaneria in that over. The left-handers will find it hard to face him when he pitches em in those footmarks.

Cricketluva Nov 19, 2006, 10:40:59 PM

Game hinges on how Kaniera is handled. Gul will have to take a rest. Razzaq is hapless

Fahim Nov 19, 2006, 10:44:15 PM

what you guys think?...i'm happy with that...shiv at #4...

no need for gayle to lift his scoring....his job is to put a big big hundred on the board, and as such, give wi a chance to push for a win......

Whatever it took to make Ganga perform, did not happen just now. Ganga has been performing all year. Some people either have short memories or have not bothered to notice.

bata Nov 20, 2006, 1:02:01 AM

In reply to Chrissy I really love what he did, because its Lara's fault in every match he lose, even if he make all the runs.

Chrissy Nov 20, 2006, 1:07:25 AM

In reply to bata
It was a very brave decision to opt for the additional bowler and drop Sarwan but Pakistan was bowled out for 357 runs in four sessions so clearly that part worked.

We cannot continue having the senior men with averages below thirty in a calendar year. Men must know they do not own spots and it is not as if Lara hasn't been warning them. Indeed both Samuels and Smithy were dropped from the squad for non-performance.

We need 600 runs in this innings. So far so good.

Ganga has cramp in his arm. Listen youth get with di programme.

Chrissy Nov 20, 2006, 1:12:59 AM

In reply to ray_ray
Look Sarwan is mi darling but he has not delivered this year. He will have to rethink his approach and wheel and come again. It was a drastic decision but this team needs something drastic. We cannot continue teking licks and allowing senior men to get away with not pulling their weight. These are the men who will take over when Lara leaves and they are not doing enough!

bata Nov 20, 2006, 1:14:58 AM

In reply to Chrissy For real Lara being too nice wont work,he told them a long time ago this will happen and look immediately how the scoreboard look like. WISE MOVE BY BRIAN LARA. And WI winning this one

In reply to ChrissyMe Gayle, Lara and Shiv are not scared of rehab and A-- Sniff

archangel Nov 20, 2006, 1:23:58 AM

In reply to bata

So what does the current scoreboard have to do with Sarwan being dropped?

Look, this pair has done this before several times and Sarwan was in the team then.

Chrissy Nov 20, 2006, 1:24:50 AM

In reply to bata
Gayle has been dropped twice in his career. Lara took time off from cricket when he felt he needed to sort out his game. Shiv has also been dropped. Sarwan has not been dropped since OZ 2000 because he was improving but he has not picked up his game this year. Both he and Gayle should have averages above 40 by now.

We cannot continue with the same approach - we need to start winning test matches overseas again. It is really that simple.

140/0

clokey Nov 20, 2006, 1:26:49 AM

Don't want to sound like the Devil's advocate, but last time we got such a good partnership from the openers we couldn't even chase 300!
Let us hope Gayle and Ganga stay there atleat to pass 357.
Double centuries from both would be phenomenal!

In reply to JEEVO Very good point that is why I like test cricket it is 15 sessions. It was balanced on deh first day and we dominate all 3 today to put we in deh driver's seat we have to continue that dominance for all 3 sessions tomorrow and bat into the first or second session tomorrow with a lead in excess of 250 runs. Thus by dominating more than half deh sessions we can't lose Pakistan gotto try to save deh match.
