When questioned by journalists after the second Test match against Pakistan, West Indies captain Brian Lara commented on the difficult decision to leave out vice captain Ramnaresh Sarwan. Following are his comments:

I have listened to one and all about the Sarwan's dropping. Some in favor and most disappointed, however all thought that it would never have happened to Sarwan even as VC. On this Board a lot of people called for dropping the last captain following a poor run; it did not happen.

Guess what, the sheriff has looked back and making amends for his mistakes over his career on and off the field (let's hope he is sincere) and I am taking him on his word when he commenced this 3rd captaincy, that no player will be spared if they do not performed, even the man for whom he has sacrificed his second captaincy.

Sarwan has had a poor run of form based on his position and talent. Every #3 or #4 player around the world has been performing more consistently than him. Worst, the #2 batting position has been fickle and mediocrity persist further the the hated player (Shiv) is reinvigorated and performing, while there is a possible talent (Morton) waiting in the wings.

Let's see consistency in this new policy and the best man play, its good for 'ah we cricket'.
