Out of ethnic diversity Trinidad has developed a complex culture. It has had more experience than its Caribbean neighbours in absorbing the vast array of practices and beliefs brought to its shores by its cosmopolitan citizenry.

This assimilation has not been and still is not a simple process. The most apparent tensions are usually fuelled by politicians who cavalierly and shamelessly shunt aside harmonious development in favour of divide and rule strategies, creating and fostering enclaves to serve their political ends.

We had a server burp that lost this story. I had to repost it and move the thread to avoid confusion. I'll repost the comments that were there at the time of the burp.

Apologies to all.

FROM POINT:

definitely agree with Ms. Baksh , as I stated earlier in another post , I would have preferred something with authentic Caribbean Music . instead of the synthersized crap , there should have been some PAN music , GENUINE KAISO & REGGAE MUSIC .

I have come to the conclusion that the powers that be are ashamed of our Music . But then I suspect that as usual they decided to do things on the cheap , leaving us with Elevator Music .

Perhaps it is a good thing that well known artiste did not get involved , because the outcome of this farce would have definitely tarnished their images .

After many years of Colonial rule it apperas that we still arent free of of the shackles , we therefore seem to always have a subservient mentallity .

Regards ... . POINT .

Back room for this shyte.

Rules are rules, and no use if not applied consistently.

I wonder what next she will bitch about?

I sorry for the man who makes mistake and marry this ooman. His life will be untold misery, an eternity of nagging and bitching.

Wait a minute....that's not a bad idea...if she marry POINTless. It will be close run thing who will drive who nuts first with nagging and bitching.

My money will be on a dead heat.

Nothing here is needed, actually.

If something offends Admin, Admin can delete it. I have no objection to that.

As to what's needed and what's not, sounds like veiled censorship to me.

If/when the ooman enter the arena, she's fair game, within the same reasonable limit as applies to everyone else, no special favours to be granted.

I won't be sending her or anyone else obscene, unsolicited PM, though. That's definitely not needed, though I hear no pronouncements from Admin about that.

I agree with you Vaneisha - the song is rubbish and the music even worse.

We have no sense of self in this region. It's as plastic as a garbage bag.

GrimReaper Dec 4, 2006, 9:36:42 AM

I also found it crappy. Is too late to do something?

I don't even bother to lisen to it.

After that "mello" crap, I don't want to see or hear anything else.

But to write a whole long tarradiddle about it...why, that only lends credibility to the rubbish.

We could have simply ignored it...the best treatment...but for her whining. Now, sadly, is front page news.

Ms Baksh appears to be well connected in cc.com.

Yamfoot Dec 4, 2006, 1:52:43 PM

yuck! Stanford 20/20 theme song was so much better!
I hope they can it and ask for more submissions. Whoever voted on this, don't know anything bout music!
Jeez! So poor. And monotonous!
