CaribbeanCricket.com Jan 8, 2007, 6:22:25 AM

There's word floating around the Caribbean that the West Indies selectors will announce a squad for the ODI tour to India with several high-profiles omissions.

The squad has been picked but an official announcement won't be made until the WICB and WIPA finalize negotiations on match/tour fees but, according to reliable information reaching CaribbeanCricket.com, the squad does not include Ramnaresh Sarwan, Corey Collymore, Fidel Edwards or Dwayne Smith.

Banner Jan 8, 2007, 6:25:05 AM

Simmons not ready

R Kelly should be there

Narper Jan 8, 2007, 6:26:52 AM

Collymore should be penciled in.

Dat skunt will arrive in India with injury for sure if he is selected

Leave him home to rass

Collymore when fit should be the 1st name penned down in both forms of the game

nissan Jan 8, 2007, 6:39:54 AM

They could have experimented with the wicket keeping position too

buds Jan 8, 2007, 6:44:40 AM

Glad to see Ganga gone..And Sammy in.

Baugh should be there instead of Dtopsie.

A very good squad picked.

don Jan 8, 2007, 6:45:25 AM

how Sarwan don't get into this squad???????

VIX Jan 8, 2007, 6:45:53 AM

Patrick browne shoulda get a lil tryout

what is Morton doing in a ODI squad???

DukeStreet Jan 8, 2007, 6:49:44 AM

I am surprised Devon Smith got picked. The only logical thing I can think of is maybe Shiv is not 100% and they need some insurance so they picked the next best (or least worst, depending on how you look at it) option available.

don Jan 8, 2007, 6:52:49 AM

Ok thanks

I am glad they are trying out some new faces...

LET THE REST PLAY IN ALL the games in the carib cup once they are fit...

number09 Jan 8, 2007, 7:23:01 AM

In reply to greypatch
The one good thing this squad will ensure is that Dwayne Smith will be forced to play proper cricket in these regionals to secure his pick on the team as a batting allrounder.

Unknown Jan 8, 2007, 7:29:44 AM

Darren Ganga dropped after his exploits in Pakistan ? Find dat very strange.

Its about time, too long over due. I still would like to see Denorine get a play. In any even t I will take this first baby step its one in the right direction. Cudos to the selectors.

In reply to buds Agreed

hewesleyb Jan 8, 2007, 7:33:25 AM

In reply to crapaud Sarwan is obviously not fit, hence he is not playing for Guyana. He is an automatic pick for CWC 2007 do not worry.

Devin Jan 8, 2007, 7:53:25 AM

Where is the shake up? Sarwan being left out is due to injury, it will probably be a few months before he's fully fit.

Edwards, Banks, Mohammed? Dropping those three clowns is considered a shake up? When was the last time Banks or Edwards represented the Woeful Wondies in an ODI?

Collymore is a fraud, as Narper said, the skunt will tour knowing fully well that he is carrying an injury.

His ass should stay home with Dicorreyna, or wuh ever d skunt he named that poor child of his, he should invite Bravo and his daughter Dwayniece over, they can exchange parenting tips and the team will rid itself of two legitimate, bonafide, genuine skuntholes!

Listen skipepr, the only surprise floating around is Sarwan. When I said a while ago that Edwards and Smith done. Well nobody take note. edwards should be used as a warm up bowler for the West Indies and paid for it, that's all. Matrix should take a year off to concentrate on bowliong, he obviously is not concentrating on batting. Well collyporest. Until he get a confirmed workign Bush bath, I ain want to hear he unlucky. let him go get it now.

But NO ONE knows when he fit or unfit....and if he is 'fit' NO ONE knows for how long....1 over or 5 overs or de whole match...much less de whole tour

Narper Jan 8, 2007, 9:14:30 AM

In that 'unofficial' squad I would replace Granmama Morton with Narsingh Deonarine.....and Darren Powell with Richard Kelly

MarcusGarveyLives Jan 8, 2007, 9:29:12 AM

The article describes Darren Sammy as "(new)". Is the Darren Sammy concerned related in any way to the Darren Sammy who appeared for the West Indies in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy?

I assume Sarwan is still injured and they dont want to risk his recovery so close before the Worldcup.

Sammy deserves his pick. I reiterate my claim that he maybe pound for pound the best Allrounder in the Windies! I have confidence in his Talent.

Devon Smiths recall for Odis is a pleasant surprise. Must have been for his ATeam performances

Flickcan Jan 8, 2007, 10:05:02 AM

Here are TWO guys they should consider:

Wavell Hinds,Pedro Collins

If Chanderpaul or Simmonds is unavailable ... it is

likely that the phoenix, Wavell Hinds, may have to

fill in.

However, if Kieron Pollard can restate his

case to the selectors tomorow, then this could be

the mirale that we have waited for.

Mr Banner,

Richard Kelly had a choice: Cricket or

Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Some selector has shit for brains...and I'm pretty sure he's an Angie Robber too.

Once again, Devon Shit has to prove that he's not test/ODI class, but simply a dung heap mediocrity...I wonder if the dunces will learn that once and for all this time.
