In a shocking development that throws the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) into another leadership crisis, Dr Roland Toppin has withdrawn his acceptance of the CEO position.
Toppin, who accepted the chief executive post last November and was scheduled to start on February 1, has now withdrawn for "previously unforeseen" personal reasons.

lawdd !!!! I think de man mussy read some comments on this MB and chicken out! alyo no good pricks
so u see Lloyd swap wid Howard so dat..... 8)
That is what you call VISION!!!!
Toppin more than likely found out the real story inside the WICBandits and decided that he prefers not to be CEO of a questionable organisation and perhaps risk making a jail.
As usual, there has to be more in that mortar than just the pestle, and, as usual, it will come out with time. Then we'll know the real story and understand why Toppin backed out...for his own well-being, I'm sure.
Let's wait and see...and hear. It's sure to be interesting, and I, for one, am interested.
Take my word..."When the right man practices the wrong means the wrong means tend to work in the right way..but there comes a time when reality catches up with him"!
I guess he is a man of character and wants no part to deal with irregularities involving the Board that will hurt his rep....but as you said...let's not speculate but wait and see/hear.
ahhhh..some more comess from WICB...this thing better than carnival oui.. 8)

How y'all could blame the WICB for Toppin quitting before he start?:)
In reply to Larr Pullo
Even I won't go there.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Last man get fired and lef you with a dud contract.
New man lef before him even start.
I'd say the WICB hiring procedures leave a bit to be desired.
In reply to sabina
A good CEO would come in and make his bones.....
Start by negotiating a new contract and not cut and run....
Where some see danger...others see opportunity!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
Larr, Larr, come oooooonnn
Something is rang - rang. The WICB cannot make a good hiring decision. What's wrong with Gordon's ability to judge character?
Sabina girl - you are right this time!!
In reply to HumbleCalf
No haughtyCow...you come on!!
You think he didnt know what he was up against when he first accepted the job?
If he didnt know, then he shoulda known and maybe the WICB is better off without him.
CEO is not a regular clerk you know!!!
In reply to Larr Pullo
OK, I agree that Toppin takes some blame here. And, if he appears in an interview before me I would certainly use this episode against him.
However Larr, the bigger issue is the missteps by the WICB - look at the Bennett King saga, look at the previous CEO and now Mr. Toppin. You would think that MUCH better care would be taken to hire someone in this high profile position. Things happen - but regardless of how you slice it, the WICB has egg on their face again - and there is no empty place on the face.
In reply to HumbleCalf
Unfortunately it seems that the WICB is hiring from an extremely limited pool of candidates.
Many corporations have been poorly run/had poor fiscal results and many bring in turn around experts who make the necessary changes to bring success.
IBM was one such case, remember Lou Gerstner?
In reply to Larr Pullo
OK, we beat this one into the ground now - let me go back to trading barbs with Dukes, PC and darling Chrissy.
Guess that is why the team is playing so we aint get a stable board. All a dem want to get rich quick
In reply to Larr Pullo
Come on Larr, you are one of the thinking minds on this board.
If you applied for a high profile position and later learnt from your boss that you only got the position because they could not pay the guy they really wanted the money he was asking for, what would you do?
That is a no-no in high profile positions.
did it ever occur to allyuh that probably nobody wants to work for these incompetent assholes (WICB)
In reply to HumbleCalf
"Sabina girl - you are right this time!! "
That's Mr. Sabina buddy, as in Park.
This withdrawal is baffling, even for the WICB. Maybe, his old company offered him more plastic moulds.
I think that Dr. T should realize that pouring plastic molds and selling wndows is not cricket. He probably found the move from a small business to big business overwhelming.
This is like a Sammy selection, we get to correct the mistake before it happens. (Sorry, Sammy fans, just using his scenario; I like Sammy).
Dr. T cricket would not miss you. WI cricket is too important to too many people, cricketers and fans to tolerate "any more grabbers" like you. I wish you all the plastic you desire.
A Real man batting for WI cricket stands by his wood not plastics.
In reply to sabina
Correction noted.

So! why you stop being "Kantankerous"?

The Admin "race I up" so I rediscover humility.
A little humble pie is good sometimes iya!!
My sources told me Toppin consulted with Brathwaite, got the real story and decided, "nah, nah, not me".
This again buttresses my point that the WICB is operated like a Mauby Shop that sprang up overnight by the roadside .
Let me reiterate , CRICKET IS A VERY SERIOUS BUISNESS , AND THEREFORE MUST BE OPERATED AS BUISNESS .
Unfortunately the Pirates prefer to continue with a Mauby Shop mentality .
How much longer , do WE have to be saddled by the WICB . As usual their bedfollows , who masquerade as sports journalists will say nothing , and write nothing .
THESE ARE THE MONSTERS THAT ARE RUINING CRICKET IN THE REGION .
The Pirates by their gross maladministration of Cricket in the Region . The pseido sports journalists , their bedfellows , by their continuous silence regarding the monumental blunders of the Pirates .
IT IS TIME FOR THE REGIONAL GOVERNMENTS TO PUT AN END TO THIS MAUBY SHOP ,THAT MASQUERADES AS THE ADMINISTRATORS OF CRICKET IN THE REGION .
