just heard it on the tv pakistan must be wondering what next will happen
What a sad day.
my wife just called me as well from CBC where she works. this is HUGE!!!!
This is really a tragic situation. I really cannot believe that this has happened. And what I find puzzling is that little has been said by the commentators (as far as I am aware).
The circumstances are so stunning.
RIP and condolences to his family.
I heard it while watching both matches
CVM broke it first then it was announced live by the commentators about 15 minutes after.
Sad
RIP Bob
Condolences to his family
This is very sad news...
Condolences to his family..
There is no way they could have expected this..
Now both the captain and coach of the 1999 SA team that so famously were knocked out of the tied semi-final have passed away in tragic circumstances...That 1999 semi-final remains the most stunning ODI game I've ever watched...
This has cast a huge pall on the entire World Cup.The circumstances of his death are as tragic as you can get.
This reminds me of the death of Ken Barrington from a heart attack the night before the Kensington test match in 1981.
RIP Bob Woolmer
The entire cricket fraternity mourns your tragic loss.
Condolences to his wife and family.
This is sad
reminds me of when Ken Barrington died in Bim,,,,he was manager on tour with de English team
But this is bigger
We made a lot of fun of Woolmer yesterday in de bar
When we saw his face losing ....we laughed ...and mocked
Ah sorry now chap....ah sorry
RIP
Sad news! RIP Mr. Wolmer!
This is very very sad. I'm in shock. Indeed a pall has been cast on the rest of the proceedings. Condolences to his family and the Pakistan team are in order.

very sad
R.I.P Bob Woolmer
That image of him packing up his laptop after the match yesterday spoke volumes for me. I said to myself..a serious case of depression for Bob...but I never thought that the pressure of the broken heart would have taken him. The Crazed Fans and the news of the public reaction in Pakistan was simply too much for him. Thankless friggin Job...to say the least. ![]()
Respect due coach
this is indeed sad....is foul play suspected????

This is what the next 24-48 hours will hopefully reveal bro. THe 64 million dollar question that is right there!!
In reply to powen001
yep, that will be my last memory of him too. calmly got up and put his laptop in his bag. Poor guy looked really broken.
Terrible news.
This overshadows the World Cup as a whole.
He always looked as if he was risk of developing heart disease, but even that would be preferable to the possibilities of suicide or even worse.
At this point, the best bet is to wait for the coroner's verdict.
In the meantime the Guinness will taste thin in Irish fans' mouths.
The Pakistani team will likely forfeit their 2nd match in 12 months.
South Africa will be deflated ahead of their crunch group matches.
The WC will go on, but it will not seem as important as it did yesterday.

You summed it up there for me buddy. When I saw him pack up after losing the match,a pang of pity and sadness hit my heart for him....I felt some of his pain but I now know his condition couldn't take all that pain.
May his soul rest in peace.

deepest sympathy to his family, loved ones and the pakistani team which he managed.
let's hope that he died from natural causes...
It's absurd but it's strangely comforting watching this Pepsi ad featuring Bob:

Shocking is an understatement. I was over at the Portmore match when we heard the news that he was taken to hospital unconscious and had to leave. My phones haven't stopped ringing since.
This is too sad.
Funny how he escorted Inzy to the post match interview yesterday - they both looked 'under severe stress'. Can't believe this all now. He was less than two feet away from me.
Condolences to the Woolmer family and Pakistan cricket for their loss.
Very sad day

R.I.P Mr. Woolmer.
I wonder about the state of the Pakistani team also...Can these guys cope with this? Will they blame themselves? They must be devasted as well...It is one thing to have coach fired but this is altogehter quite another thing. An very unpleasant thing.
spare a thought for Mr. Woolmer's family and the Pakistani team....wow
When I heard he was in hospital... I was concerned but affirmed that this man does take his cricket very seriously. Never in my thoughts did it occur to me that the worst would happen....condolenences to his family and may he RIP. :(
My condolences to Mr Woolmer's family & friends. Deepest sympathy to the Pakistan cricket team and management, I hope that all of Inzamam-ul-Haq's men will be able to pull through what is now undoubtedly their darkest period.
My condolences to to teh family.
That is truly sad and shocking indeed. Condolences to the Woolmer family and friends.
Real Men came into this world and made their mark, then left the world behind to mourn, asking..."why they had to leave this way?"...And Mr. Bob Woolmer was a perfect example!
May his soul rest in peace!
With all the calling for his "head" along with the rest of the players and management upon return to Pakistan, would not have done his condition any good.
I walked by Bob Woolmer on Friday morning as he was having a lime with the Zimbabwe coach at the door to Pegasus... Sad news indeed
Condolences to his family
My thoughts are with Bob's family, it is shocking, very shocking....life goes on, he will be remembered for a dedicated life to cricket, must have been his first love like so many millions around the world.
He left a trememdous legacy with the game, hopefully his methods will forever be in the game....

bob, may your soul rest in peace mate. you were a truly great person and coach.
We should put him in de Penthouse.
Stuff like this just meK yu stop and take stock and wonder why we here killing up ourselves to deal with the stress of life on a daily basis! DAMN!
my condolences to the family.
I am not sure what happened here and I suppose the post mortem will say but it is generally well known that the political involvement of ex-pakistani players and even government politicians have frustrated Wolmers efforts in recent months. Did anyone here the BBC report this evening on this matter? The BBC reporter indicated that he hoped that this unfortunate situation will cause those meddling in Pakistan to engage in serious introspection.
Bob for the PH
This is a man who dedicated his life to cricket. Cheers :(
Terrible news and I feel for his wife in South Africa - she didn't even get to see him before he passed away.
In reply to OZGOD
i can imagine how that feels
RIP Bob.
