By now every member of the West Indies World Cup squad is aware that cricket fans in the Caribbean are not only disgusted with their recent performance against Sri Lanka, but that they have also given up hopes of them advancing to the World Cup semi-finals.
In fact, the warning signals that something was desperately and depressingly wrong with the team had started going up after their rather tame performance against New Zealand, which itself came after a thumping defeat at the hands of the Australians

What I want to know is who was seen drinking before the match?
In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com
Sadly, however, most of his teammates don't seem to care.
AND THAT IS THE SADDEST PART OF ALL. Big men well paid and dont care if we advance of win the cup.
AND SOMEHOW THAT IS LARA's FAULT.
Well well well

AND SOMEHOW THAT IS LARA's FAULT.
After WC 2007 it will be Sarwan's fault.
Wait...but he is one ah dem "big men"...
..so he will be the fault and it will be his fault...
Nice article to a point - straight, no chaser. Still somewhat hollow though, you needed to address two other reasons for this travesty - an incompetent coach and a managing board that lacks vision and commitment to WI cricket. You also needed to propose a solution.....It's unfair to blame Lara alone. Cricket is a team sport.

I'm convinced that the people involved in West Indies Cricket really don't realise how much we care about our cricket. Sitting in Providence on Sunday I understood for the first time how a woman/man with a two timing husband/wife that (s)he loves must feel. Totally heartbroken and stupid.

Ok lets have their name.....and their goddman heads on platter
Oh i don't know, maybe becoz he been one of the best odi players around for the last couple of years.
What about lara's mediocre batting in this WC....doesn't that rate mention....then again maybe i overlooked it in the article.
Lets hear it for Daniel Singh . another of those Charlatans who masquerade as Sports Journalists in the Region .
Danny Boy , you can take comfort in the fact that you have lots of company .
I love how you mentioned Pollard , the new cricket Messiah , in your eyes no doubt persons like Darren Sammy and Devon Smith aint deserve to be mentioned .
So since you so bright , can you tell me who was the best batsman in the Regional ODI Tournament ??? .
Or is it that insularity clouded your mind ?? The problem with West Indies Cricket is that there is too much dishonesty by the WICB , THE SELECTORS , MANY WHO CALL THEMSELVES CRICKET FANS , AND MOST OFFENSIVE OF ALL THE PSEUDO SPORTS JOURNALISTS WHOSE JOB IT IS TO BOOST ONLY THE PLAYERS FROM THEIR COUNTRIES .
West Indies really letting their fans down. This is the time for these men to stand up and be counted, instead they're hiding like little puppy dogs.
I am totally disgusted with the whole team. I never thought I'd say this, but right now they are playing like a bunch of assholes in high school. I am tired of making excuses and defending them.
Point, don't be so hard on Danny Boy, man haffe say how dem feel, just like you. I agree on the Pollard thing and Devon Smith too ... dem can't do no worse that ras klaat SHAMwels & DR Smith, if them skunts gonna keep Gayle, move his rass down the order.
them little Num skuls don't know what it is to digg deep and do battle.. they know its too much hard work to mek thefinals and they done give up Lara stands alone.. Sorry he is not a bowler. cause we would uh sure meet.
I remember lara saying what it ment for him to play and represent the WI cricket.. never fault lara on effort. Rememebr when Culombus Crew de want to kill him casue he nuh find Land poor lara .. the ship at hig rought seas.
gayle is lazy he don't care.. with that bowlign performace in guyana ( no balls and all)
sars seems intrested, shiv just wan to bat, Powell loves hte way he bowling( good work coach) the rest could go fugg dem selves

Exactly, if you can't get motivated for a World Cup match on home soil then mabye some of these lads need to find a different job.
Another Chaletan parading as a journalist.Same old re-hash comments with nothing revealing to disclose.
Same old shtye article again about the WI.
In reply to buds this guy is a Charlatan indeed, i dont read his articles.

Look Mr Singh, speak for yuhself bout Fans giving up hope in Windies team.
If you are spineless keep such negativity to yuh self. All you people do is is see failure. Mr Singh get ah life.
Why everybody seems so worked up this bunch has been underperforming for almost six years. Indiscipline and swagger is quite unbecoming.
At least the captain is still at the helm rallying the troops()
Funny, Chris Gayle will find his grove.
I still think Graeme Smith was right when he called them "slackers" in Antigua during the SA V WI match.

Rallying what troops.....do those fukkers look like their being rallied.....he can't even rally himself so how him ago rally the others....

I'm not sure sure about "underperforming for almost six years." Defending ICC Trophy Champs. That series said a lot about what is possible of WI cricket when faced with serious adversity. Less than a year before that WI choked at home against England in almost every way possible (except for 400 not out of course). Then BAM! Hurricanes, tragedy, and extreme doubt all came together for another WI miracle. You can see why we keep hope alive. I'm still keeping hope alive.
This 'West Indies' team has become "WASTE INDIES." That's my new name for these guys until they prove me wrong! There isn't much could be done at this time. However, for the upcoming tour to Engalnd, I do hope to see a lot of changes to this team. Starting with the COACHING STAFF and some players such as GAYLE, SARWAN, SMITH, BRADSHAW AND POLLARD (NOT YET READY FOR THIS LEVEL). During this WC Chanderpaul has been batting at an average around 28 to 30, this is very, very slow batting for an opener. Gayle as we all know is a over rated batsman that plays his cricket on glue. He is naturally lazy and has over stayed his stay in this team. Sarwan is a under acheiver with a lot of glamour. He supposed to be one of the better batsmen in the team, however, he is unwilling to improve and progress, therefore should give way for someone else. Samuels and Bravo to of the more talented players in the team should be under the belt for one more tour or else! I do believe that of late Ganga has been improving and must be given a fair chance to cement his place in this team. I do believe that Rampaul and Jaggernauth should be on tour to England. The WI bowling squad on tour should make up like this: Taylor, Rampaul, Powell, Jaggernauth, Collymore and Lawson. With support from Bravo and Samuels. The batting should look like this: Devon Smith, Ganga, Simmons, Lara, Chanderpaul, Joseph and Ramdin as keeper. There are others that I would like to see such as Parchment, Sammy and Deonarine, however, space will be a factor. Three coaches at random Dujon, Holding, Haynes, Walsh, Richards, Lloyd, etc make your choice. I will love to see Omar Khan (mgr of a sucessful TnT cricket team two yrs running)as manager. Get rid of the nonsense and start all over!
so who is the poster again?
stupseeeeeee
i remember after being 2-0 down against england in the 2004 home test series lara was talking about leveling the series which turn out to just a bunch of hot air
In reply to nat
Didn't stop him from trying. Or reclaiming a world record. England were starting to get in prime form back then and they were just a better team, bottom line.

An incompetent coach, what are you snorting, is he the one who goes out and misfields, plays stupid shots and bowls wides and no-balls? I have said this before and will say it again, you play shite cricket, you blame the coach who works his ass off, you play great cricket and the players get all the credit. You people obviously not spend much time around professional sport, do ya see coach out on field changing bowlers, placing fields and playing shots. Suck it up and let players who don't have the committment to the job THEY have answer a few questions. Why you people always blame the coach, he working his ass off. Get given a poor quality pool of players and you ain't going to win or achieve nothing.
In reply to azadtnt
In 2 years time with the same players and different coach(minus lara who will have retired by then) all of you bigots will see that it is not the coaching staff not doing their job but simply the PLAYERS NOT PERFORMING. When BK was in Australia with committed players he got results, don't blame him for the shite attitude of the players, they don't have to win to get paid big money and boy that is obvious. Come back to Australia BK, leave these blokes who don't perform. Read this blog in 12 months with a local coach and see if they attack that person, probably because you all just sit at home with nothing better to do and have no sport credentials to shut your mouth and stick your hand up and say something positive and maybe try to make a difference apart from all the shite you post on this blog.
