Another arbitration ruling, another victory for the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA).
A three-man panel led by Barbados chief justice Sir David Simmons has ruled that the WICB must make Provident Fund contributions for the World Cup tournament in accordance with the standard match/tour contracts.

HEADLINE: Arbitrators Rule for WIPA Again
Well I guess this should shut up de disingenuous rasses who sought to question CC's sources in the earlier report on this matter. On second thoughts...nah, it won't. Some people jus love egg pon dem face...anything for attention.
Anyway...WIPA in dem skunts again. Good job Dinas. Yu da man.
In reply to Zikdaman
Nothing shuts up those greedy self-serving people.
In reply to Chrissy
That's almost $169,000 on average per man, before sponsorship or other earnings. Wonderful!
This is the kind of info that WI Cricket needs to get out there so that youngsters understand the kind of money they could make if they choose a career in cricket. A big part of marketing the game to youngsters is showing them the bling factor.
In reply to Chrissy Yall keep rewarding these mediocres. This the only job where u get a raise for performing poorly. Go windies, go!
In reply to jala
Wrong!
Their job is to make money for the WICB. They seem to be doing their jobs very well as the WICB is about to make a killing. Don't get it twisted.
In reply to Zikdaman
The Mittal sponsorship money is $300,000 total. 25% off the top to the WICB leaves $225,000.
The players will collect 60% of that ($135K), distributed equally among 15.
That's $9,000 a man for wearing the sponsors' logo. Still small change for international professional cricketers.
_r
In reply to Admin
Shhhhhhhhh!
In reply to Admin
True, $9,000 ain't much.
Who is going to rule in favour of WI cricket?
Is there an inverse relationship between WIPA beating WICB and the WI Players winning matches?
In reply to Blackbird
When the local West Indian stands up and says no more in a meaningful way.
In reply to Zikdaman Yes, but at this rate the performances will lead to less sponsorship money coming in the future, thereby lessening the continuity of earning capability if these sorry ass cricketers do not pick themselves up and start playing like professionals.
The question now is not whether they deserve the pay, it is for them to start earning/justifying it.
i do not think sponsors will be lining up to spend their money on anyone who is not a proper role model at all.
In reply to Zikdaman
Hahahahahahaha!
In reply to axaboy
There is!
In reply to Dekkah
Boycott!!
In reply to anandgb
If the money wasn't justified it wouldn't be coming in. They earn their pay because the people who contract them to play get paid big when they do. You understand that concept?
In reply to Larr Pullo
But you're not....or more accurately....no longer, a local West Indian....which makes you free to NOT boycott ent? 8)
In reply to imusic
You ever go a match in the dots?
Is like they already boycotting anyway.
The twelve dotties that travel from island to island and make up the dottie spectators should stop going is what a saying!!!
BTW you from a dot too...so is who i educating?
In reply to Larr Pullo
I from 2 DOTS! Get it right!!!
What do these 'victories' really mean.
In reply to Commie
The triumph of good over evil, etc.

i seeing plenty evil on the field too.

Yup, obviously. Evil begets evil. Mediocrity atop breeds mediocrity below. Etc.

In reply to Zikdaman Why are you in teh habit of taking just a part of a post as if it was the whole sentence and pick on it?
Didn't your grammer school teacher teach you about context?
Maybe you should write 500 lines of teh word context cintext context until you remember it.
You do not have to feel obligated to attack everything someone says you know.
In reply to Admin gee, you are in a philosophical mood today...
In reply to anandgb
Seems like the word for tonight is context. I think we need a dictionary at hand.
In reply to Commie Yes, I noticed that. I have been using it today as well.
In reply to anandgb
Yeah, that's why I just picked part of your post to attack
Suh WIPA win dis round? Next round we will hear the WICB win. When will the WI team start winning?
Apparently the three of them in a race with no finish line...

In reply to Zikdaman Okay. I know it breaks your heart when people questioon entitlements or more precisely when people think they are entitled without having to work for it.
But then again that is the notion on which trade unions were built. The communist theory of redistribution of wealth comes easily to mind.

"WI cricket", that trite phrase that you peeps like to parrot, cannot exist without WI cricketers - good, bad or mediocre.
ALL the money....ALL..not some or part...that is made by WI cricket is made by those players - good, bad or mediocre. Try to get that through your thick skulls for a start.
Once you understand that, you cannot fail to understand that the cricketers who bring in that money MUST have their share of it, whether they are good, bad or mediocre.
So must the WICBandits have a share of it to go towards the runnnig of WI cricket...and I do not have to tell you whether the Bandits are good, bad or mediocre at running WI cricket. This latest judgement, the latest in a string of many, is just one more piece of evidence of how badly they do the job.
So what we have is money made by mediocre cricketers being shared between those cricketers and a board that is arguably far worse than them. Remember - the cricketers did not make US $3 million disappear without a trace, and did not rack up losses of about US $30 million that have done almost irreparable damage to the development of WI cricket and the running of programs to bring about its improvement.
Although the Bandits keep the lion's share of the revenue, regional cricketers cannot even have a proepr dungheap season of at least 10 games, but must settle for 5 games only.
It's a fact that we have lots of mediocre players compared to the rest of the world, and I am one of the harshest critics of that. I, however, have the ability to separate that from the issue of how and why they are paid.
In my mind it is very clear that if cricketers generate income for the WICBandits by playing well or playing badly, that income must be fairly shared with them.
In my mind, the WICBandits get too large a share and the players too small. It is a well known fact that the Bandits squander money recklessly and could run WI cricket on a lot less than they keep and fritter away on themselves instead of WI cricket.
The Bandits' efforts have not improved WI cricket. Why, then, should they retain such a big share of the money generated by WI cricketers - even mediocre ones? They never do anything worthwhile with it, do they?
Leave the players' money alone. It's theirs - good, bad or mediocre.
In reply to rikiniki Ah notice you very scarce these days. Is it cuz you always so confused?
There once existed a widespread practice whereby one set of people worked - good, bad or mediocre - and produced lots of income that another set collected and kept for themselves, spent on themselves, living in luxury while the workers who generate the income got pittance...a little bad food and even worse accommodation, plus licks like peas administered by promoted ex-slaves.
The name of that system was SLAVERY.
Currently, we have a system where one set of people work - good, bad or mediocre - and generate income which is collected by another set of people, who try to keep all for themselves, live in luxury and have to be forced to give a share of it - the smallest share they can get away with - to the ones who generate that income.
Up torecent times the share was so small that past workers live mostly in poverty and have to become slaves to other interests in order to eat, forcing them to turn on their present day counterparts who they perceive to be getting a lot more than they did.....just what a slavemaster would want of his ex-slaves.
Do we see a resemblance here?
In reply to redbaron
Very well said RB. That is really the long and short of it. The players' job is to earn money for the organization and they are doing a fine job of it. The WICB get pay whether the team win, lose or draw. That money is earned by the cricketers and they fully deserve a handsome cut of it no matter the circumstance.
When we talkin bout the business of cricket, people need to leave they emotions at the door. Too many big hardback men up in here with hormonal imbalance getting hysterical and irrational on this issue.
The players accomplished what they were hired to do which is to generate money for the organization that contracted them. They charge a fee (in this case 22% of the revenue THEY generate) for this and they get their fee. This is how it works in any business, on any job.
It's that simple folks.
In reply to Zikdaman
I already advised those who bitching about the palyers' pay to stop paying them, but all they do is continue to bitch.
Perhaps that is because they do not pay the players so they have no business saying what they should be paid.
Criticise their performances - no problem, i do that all the time. But their pay is not my business - I dont pay them, and they earn their pay.
In reply to Commie
It means dat slavery days done.
In reply to redbaron I find your response interesting; my provocative question has done its job.
It make little sense questioning the payment of players although I would like to see a performance based structure that is fair and intreating.
But, who will rule for WI cricket? In the present, environment, many will see WI cricket as the team, is far bigger than that. Its the single largest regional product. Should WIPA or the WI be make more fund available for WI cricketers (all regional players) via these negoatiations? Instead of primarily the WI team? What is WIPA responsibility? 15 players or all regional players? Do we need a strict dividing rule for all funds? 15% team; 5% all regional teams (for the players); WICB rest.
The WICB has in my mine done little benificial for our cricket. Therefore, its about time that the players themselves via WIPA negotiate heavily for them.
On your more recent post: How the WICB purse should be divided is where capitalism meets socialism. The sports capitalist, like the NBA with 250 players, give large amounts to a small group, which should provide the motivation to achieve. The second theory which abound the Caribbean, is that everybody should get a piece of the pie for trying and participating. So you want stipens, contract fees, moderate salaries at the top.
I have tried to combine the Caribbean tradition with the capitalist style: Give lots at the top and wet the appetite at the bottom. Stanford was a good example of this approach.
In reply to Blackbird
I'm curious. What does the WICB do with the 80% you give them in this scenario?
In reply to Blackbird
Interesting discussion that's worth expanding.
Are you applying this performance-based stucture to the WICB? Should we determine their take based on their management performances? If not, why not?
_r
In reply to Zikdaman
Sounds allot like the MOB - sit on your ass do nothing and make whole allot of money. What a hell of an example for young players when all they have to strive for is to be as incompetent as Dwayne Smith, why should we then expect the quality of WI cricket to improve? Fast forward to the current group of players who are making mountains of money irregardless of their piss poor performance yet don't seem have the pride or dedication to improve - why should they. This in nothing more than super inflation 15 players making 22% of 11.5 million while 3% has to shared among the poor.
In reply to Blackbird
"WI cricket" and "team bigger than whatever" are emotional phrases that mean very little in terms of the real issues. Let me try to define the issues for you in a way that might not confuse you further.
1. "WI cricket" is a product of WI cricketers. There can be no cricket, WI or otherwise, without cricketers who are willing and able to commit themselves to playing cricket as a career.
2. All the revenue gathered by the WICB on behalf of WI cricket really belongs to the cricketers, since it is generated by what they do and if required they could easily get another body to do what the WICB does. It's only ICC "cartel rules" that keeps the WICB in charge.
3. The WICB is the body that is supposed to be properly administer WI cricket. As such, they must retain a portion of the revenue for that purpose. That money ought to properly accounted for and wisely spent to maintain and improve WI cricket, including the performances of the test and ODI teams.
4. WIPA is a body constituted of members who pay dues to WIPA for representation on their behalf. Thus, WIPA technically has to represent the interests of its financial members first and foremost, and has no inherent responsibility for representing anyone other than those paid up members, even thoguh they do so.
In fact, the WICB can deny any WIPA attempt to negotiate on behalf of persons who are not bona fide WIPA members if they wish.
5. The responsibility for "WI cricketers (all regional players", as you put it, is that of the WICB, who claim to "own" regional cricket. It is not WIPA's responsibility because WIPA does not own WI cricket and does not collect revenue from WI cricket but only from its members.
Since WIPA does not collect revenue on behalf of WI cricket, WIPA cannot fund WI cricketers as you suggest.
Funding cricket in the region at all levels is a matter for the WICB, not WIPA. As you know, the WICB has not been doing this at all, with consequent results for WI cricket especially in the poorer territories.
6. The division of the revenue, or, to be more accurate, the portion to go to the test/ODI cricketers is something to be decided by WIPA and the WICB. Once they agree on the division, that's it. There is no question of "pay for performance".
If there were, the WICB would get 0%, and that's not practical.
7. The WICB has failed to properly manage WI cricket over the years. They did nothing to produce the teams that ruled world cricket in the past - that was a result of English county cricket experiences of the players back then. In effect, the players funded their own development by working as cricket professionals in English county cricket.
The then WICBC simply sat in their hands and enjoyed the benefits of that period while sharing very little of the rewards with the players, resulting in their relative poverty now.
As a result, when English county cricket was no longer available, the WICBC had no plan and still does not have one to compensate for that gap. The result is the mediocrity we see since the days of English county cricket. The players have nowhere to develop beyond regional dungheap, and even that is truncated to only 5 games per year in a low standard competiton.
8. As an aside, the administration of WI cricket funds is improving very slowly because of WIPA's success in forcing the WICB to operate with some degree of honesty. Since it's clear that the problems in WI cricket start at the top, this can only be good for the improvement of the cricket in the long term.
WIPA's relentless assult on dishonesty has forced a few rotten eggs well out of the picture and is causing those hwo wish to serve to think carefully, keeping out potential scamps.
These are issues that people are too lazy or too simpleton to analyse and digest. It's so much easier to parrot "the captain must go!"..."WI cricket"...."they getting too much money" and other such inane rubbish.
It's so much easier to give in to one's emotions and biases than to think things through and understand the issues.

Must be that time of the month for some of yu facters here. Ah done tell allyuh to leave allyuh hormones at de factin door when you want to discuss the BUSINESS of cricket. In reply to Zikdaman
What can't you respond without trying to be abusive? Whew my ass!!!
Generate WHAT? Was the 11.5 million appropriated before or after the WC? These players have not EARNED squat with regards that that amount. Tell me 22% of the gates from WI matches, not 22% of the pre tournament amount when that money would be better spend developing the regional system and young players yet to break in the senior through stints to the various academies in order to fast track their careers so that we can replace the bunch of useless pricks who parade as WI cricketers
In reply to sabre07
So tell me, how much would the WICB be getting if it had no cricketers? It is the act of playing cricket that is responsible for every penny of money generated by cricket.
Why I gotta be breaking down simple stuff like this for you? Damn, are you really that daft? Whew again!!!
In reply to Zikdaman
So tell me, how much would the WICB be getting if it had no cricketers? It is the act of playing cricket that is responsible for every penny of money generated by cricket - Agreed.
But my point is why are the select few who are producing such a poor product on field being awarded 22% when that money should be better spent developing all players in the system. As you so elegantly stated the WICB would not have received that money if it had no cricketers, but those players are also costing WI cricket by their pathetic performances. Both Australia and England are shortening our tours, the most lucrative market India refers to us minnows; so the question is do we continue to overspend on under performing players or would the money be better spent developing the product so at WI cricket becomes a once again sought after commodity which in turn increases the earning potential of WI cricket. Here is the hang up you interpret WIPA to be an all inclusive association - I don't. I believe the WIPA is nothing more than a front a few senior players.
Thank you for recognizing my daftness
.. good to know I wasnt the only one who bought one of those mirrors.
In reply to Zikdaman
But dont 'somebody' not have to provide the framework for matches to take place so that players can make money?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Sure...and they get compensated to.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Which comes first the chicken or the egg? :D
In reply to sabre07
Because it is this few who are directly responsible for the windfall of cash coming in to the WICB.
Well the WICB is charged with developing players and gasp...they get 75%. So if you don't see cricket being developed then you have beef with the people who kept 75%...yah dig?
Get rational.
In reply to Zikdaman
What de rass you talking bout? WICB have first class plane ticket and 5 star hotels and expensive whores to pay for. Where you get this ridiculous leftist afro-leninist idea bout them actually spending money on player development from?
In reply to sabina
Maybe that sabre fella got a stake in WICB money...seems like he eh want nobody touchin dat...
In reply to Zikdaman
If I was living high on the hog with other people money, I would be holding on to the loot with my toenails too.
Nobody gives up privileges without a fight. So thank God for Dinas.
But really, I wish our boys were showing the same fight on the field. If they keep stinking up the place - not just losing but losing like they don't give a damn - even this foundation leftist afro-leninist will begin to see merit in pay for performance.
In reply to sabina
For the millionth time, this is already in effect. They get more money if they win.
In reply to Zikdaman
One point I am not clear on, is this in addition to their match fees? If not fine I agree, but if yes then I believe all the regional players should benefit not the elite few including some like Pollard and Simmons who yet to make a contribution at the senior level.
In reply to sabre07
Yes this is in addition to match fees of course. Also this pay does not include the cut they get for wearing the sponsor's name on their person.
Like I said, these guys generate nuff money...and they only get a small share of it. So allyuh haters haul off.
In reply to Zikdaman
Nah man far from a hater just another WI supporter sick of the overpaid non performing idiots who think averaging 30 or taking 1 wicket every 10 matches is something of an achievement. A board which is incompetent and a WIPA which at every turn comes across as greed at the board it is up against.
In reply to sabre07
Thats why the WICB should negotiate individually with players, so that they could set individual salaries commensurate with performance. This way the high salaries to the performers could be justified and the slackers would be paid accordingly.
In reply to Larr Pullo Amen. It has nothing to do with the WICB getting the money if the players don't get it. Bottomline, players getting nuff money for doin'very little.Utter slackness
In reply to jala
And yu just can't get over the envy. I pity your life.
In reply to Zikdaman I work for what i want
In reply to jala
Nah you supposed to envy a man because he might earn more than you. Isn't that how it works in Ziks world?
In reply to Larr Pullo
I not de one complaining incessantly about other people money. Look within.
In reply to jala
And it bun yu dat some people made smarter choices than you did ent?
In reply to Zikdaman
So in your world the prime motivation for voicing disagreement with something is envy?
In reply to Larr Pullo
Well when a man complain about annedda man pay when it doh have nuttn to do wid his, dat is de definition of envy right dey so.
In reply to Zikdaman
If I complain about your pay, or you about mine...maybe so. If I complain about the team that I pay or buy PPV subscriptions to watch lose over and over again, then no.
When you're a fan of a team and pay to see them there are certain expectations that come built in. That the team will represent you well and that they will fight hard and sometimes win. But you should know all this......
In reply to Larr Pullo
If yu continue to purchase an optional product that you find unsatisfactory then you need yuh head checked. You got way bigger problems than the team losing. You get no sympathy from me.
... here is my 2cents ... these players mite not seem to be worth the money, but does that mean our player should not be paid the money? Peeps talk about performance pay, why I ask, when all we have to do is get rid of the underperformers. Simple, we need to raise the benchmark for the standard by which one can represent the WI and for how long.
In reply to Zikdaman
So now it's moved to which actions are deserving of sympathy? When did you get off the envy topic?
In reply to Larr Pullo
I didn't get off it..this is in addition...keep up son.
In reply to natty_forever
ok, but they still need 11 players so you gotta lower the bar until yu can get enough to constitute a team...get it?
Damn some of this si so elementary yet i still need to spend time explaining it to educated people. Sheesh!
In reply to Zikdaman ... I left out ... "in the future". My argument has always been, stay with these losers, until someone shows the requisite performance to be brought into the team.
In reply to natty_forever
Well since they go for the best available then the only way to raise the bar is to get better talent.
In other words you don't raise the bar to get better talent, you raise the bar BECAUSE you have better talent.
In reply to natty_forever
And this differs from the present policy how?
In reply to Zikdaman
Ziks, you casting your excellent pearls before mostly swine.
Apart from natty, them could only say oink - over and over.
In reply to Zikdaman
"For the millionth time, this is already in effect. They get more money if they win."
So why they not trying harder to win? Even you gotta admit these guys were sleepwalking against Sri Lanka.
It's not the losing that pisses off most people. It's the lack of effort. Look how Ireland fought against South Africa. Look how England fough against Sri Lanka. Look how we just gave up.
In reply to Zikdaman
Man you are like an octopus you won't let go :)
How much lower we go? If we keep lowering the bar pretty soon we are going to be in the ground. Pay them their match fees, endorsement commissions etc I don't think anyone is denying that, but for them to demand 22% of the extra money is greedy, why should only the 15 squad members benefit? Players like Pollard and Simmons have done nothing to warrant that money. My beef is with that extra piece of the pie they are craving - it should either be all players or none at all.
In reply to sabre07
Sigh! You go as low as you have to go to get a squad. Why is such a simple concept so hard to grasp?
In reply to sabre07
Well they can always say they not playin any cricket and then nobody (not even the WICB) get any money because no game get play. You prefer that?
In reply to Larr Pullo
That's known as "divide and rule", WIPA won't stand for it, it's been tried, it failed, caused more harm than good and will not be tried again.
In any case the individuals know that if the WICBandits catch them going solo, the Bandits would shaft their asses individually and they wouldn't even get 10%.
In other words, it would be back to the bad old days of those dumb "greats" who were on top of the cricket world but settled for pittance out of the money THEY made for WI cricket, leaving them paupers now, singing for their suppers under foreign masters amd envying the current players.
The GREAT fools were too busy playing cricket to look after their own welfare and to make sure they benefited from what their exploits and successes brought in. They thought it was all about cricket - the swallowed the "WI cricket most important" crap fed to them while the Bandits swallowed up the money.
Current players not that stupid. Good, bad or indifferent, it's their labour that earns the money and they make sure they get their share of it - as much as they can.
Who eh like it can take the field for WI and play for free.
In reply to redbaron
"it's their labour that earns the money"
And it's their lack of labour that pissing people off.
They keep sleeping through games like against Sri Lanka and soon no one gonna go watch them and then there will be no money to share out so all arguments will done.
I'm all for workers getting their share. But there's no excuse for not trying.
In reply to redbaron
I waiting for one of these lovers of WI cricket on here to offer.
In reply to sabina
Well if that time comes then cricket done, is dat simple. but as long as cricket mekkin big money off the cricketers' backs then they deserve they share. They get paid to generate money, and they doing a good job at it.
In reply to sabina
And it is that lack of effort which is costing WI not only in terms of prestige but in the bank book. If it wasn't for the mandated ICC scheduling we would have been worse off, why would have the stronger counties bothered playing us on a regular basis? We are paying these players whole lot of money, but is their performance on the field producing the financial returns to sustain these levels or are we heading for further meltdowns such constricting the regional tournaments due to the lack of funds?
In reply to Zikdaman
"In reply to redbaron
Who eh like it can take the field for WI and play for free.
I waiting for one of these lovers of WI cricket on here to offer."
Well nuff man would play for food and board if it mean criss gal knocking down you hotel room at 1 am! Me for one, if I was young enough and good enough!

In reply to Zikdaman
"Well if that time comes then cricket done, is dat simple. but as long as cricket mekkin big money off the cricketers' backs then they deserve they share. They get paid to generate money, and they doing a good job at it."
Well if there is no long term future in the game maybe the WICb is justified in trying to hog everything right now. Why plan long term for a dying enterprise? Grab what you can and run.
Fact is the players don't look any more interested in WI cricket than the WICB these days.
In reply to sabina
How much money you estimate you would generate, in comparison to...say...Chris Gayle?
You would have to hold on to your night job.
In reply to redbaron
Like I said. If I was young enough and good enough.
In reply to sabina
How interested you think you go be if was you and you had to start WC 2007 still fighting for your fair share of the takings, and had to go to arbitration to get it...AGAIN...and AGAIN...because your "employer"...that's how they view the players...as mere employees...downright refuse to agree to give you a reasonable share?
Since the players realise how much the Bandits were cheating them, they done with this "WI cricket" shyte that was used to keep them in virtual slavery while the masters lived first class lives.
Look at how you blame the players for being the victims of the Bandits failure to have development programs to take them from dungheap level to tes/ODI levels.
Imagine how much of that US $3 million could have done and how many of those players could have been so much more expert, professional, winners now instead of low confidence, low competence loser despite their natural talent that was not refined by the bandits.
Think about that. Think about what Marlon Samuels could have been if he had access to a good development program at 19. Ditto for Sarwan...Devon Smith...Dwayne Smith...Ryan Hinds...I could name 100.
Think about it...see who are the real culprits....the ones who keep 80% of the money and do 0% of the development work with it.

Of course WICB is a bunch of wutless incompetent clueless bandits.
But that don't excuse the players not trying. No siree. Accountability works in all directions.
As I say it aint the losing that pains. It's facting not trying as they so obviously did not against Sri Lanka. I don't care what you problems in the pavilion are. You owe us fans who have invested so much emotionally 100% in the field.
Otherwise we eventually gonna say fact WICb and fact WI players and fact WI cricket. I mean is like getting bun. No matter how much you love the woman, is only so much you can take before you run her claat.

You think the WICB will seek their services for the next match?
Who pays for these arbitrators?
In reply to sabina
Well you are neither, so don't hate, congratulate...

Boss there is a middle ground. I aint no hater. But I aint no worshiper. I'm a fan who wants my guys to try hard - win, lose or draw - that's all.
Is that too much to ask?
In reply to sabina
Got no quarrel with you there. But that's not what this thread is about.

How exactly do you seperate payments from the work being (or not being) done for that payment?
It seems the only thing we can win is higher payment. Good Trade Union should be intereested in higher pay/ect but also in higher and better productivity. That's when its a win win. For us it seems always to be a lose lose.
Now appply to that to WIPA and this Hapless bunch.

"You go as low as you have to go to get a squad"
And that is good for our cricket to have low quality cricketers demanding more money than they are worth? Then why should we moan and bitch that Galye averages 38 and as so does Sarwan and Dwayne Smith is a one shot wonder. The precedence has been set; just try to be as good as the mediocre players in the senior team and life set. Dont worry about embarrassing yourself and fans of WI cricket once you are exposed to real competition.
In reply to Zikdaman
Well as I stated before, it depends if the WIPA is truly an all-inclusive union or just a front for the senior players. In a stalemate between the WIPA and Board, whom do you think can hold out longer? It is not as though we will suffer a serous downgrade of performance on the field. The board can easily select another 11 who would jump at the chance to play. The AAA team we spent to SL had more fight than this group.

The mediocre performances of WI may well reduce revenues in the future. The fact that Dwayne Smith makes more money than runs is not a problem in itself. The real problem was highlighted by the Prime Minister of Grenada...those outside the squad do not make a living wage to call themselves professional and they dont play enough professional cricket. When catapulted in to the squad like Simmons or Pollard how could they do anythging but fail.Equitable distribution of funds means we must be able to finance a professional season and sustain 60 cricketers not 15

Until the WICB organizes a proper regional tournament they will reap exactly what they sow.
In reply to sabre07
A worker's worth is measured in how much they bring into the organization. For the millionth time, WI cricketers bring in nuff revenue and as such they are worth plenty. WI cricketers are asking for a percentage of money that was generated as a direct result of their actions. We're talking about the business of cricket man. Leave your emotions behind and think this through with your head.

Well the WICB have 75% of the revenue...your beef is with them.
This is really a Football Match , so far the WIPA has scored all the goals and the WICB is still at Nil .
I suspect however that the WICB still believe that they can score , that being the case this game aint have no time limit .
The WICB are willing to play until they score a goal , by the look of things , that dont seem to be in the cards .
In my opinion they should just accept defeat and stop playing games with the WIPA .
