Yeah, but some journalists are able to get the reader to sit back and say: "Very well put....I knew this before but he really brings it across well...jolly good article, old chap".

Singh cannot elicit much more thought from the reader, other than "Why did I bother reading that crap"...or "Does Singh look constipated in that picture?"

The arguement by most reasonable cricket fans in and from the region is that a player should not be considered as captain unless he has first cemented his place on the team. As qualified as Ganga may be, with his sound technique, cricketing intelligence, and reported strong character traits, he still has left many in doubt as to his ability to produce on the highest level.

Let him make the team first purely on merit. If his "prodigious" talents come to the fore and his production increases dramatically, then consider him for the captaincy.

For now, Sarwan, by virtue of tenure, average, and to some extent, by default, should take the reigns. The added responsibilty will mature him at the very least.

After reading...I was still looking for the punch line :lol:

Look at the great Sir Garry .... inherited a
powerful team in 1965 ..... attention was not paid
to transition .... and by June 1969 we were a
pitiful team in England.

No argument here that Lara is not an inspiring
leader.In fairness to him, it is not easy to deal
with officials from WICB.

He is still the best batsman in the WI and is the
reason I pay good money to DishNetwork to see WI
cricket. I'm surprised he allowed others to get to
him and left before he wanted to.

The logical thing to do was for Lara to continue
as skipper for the Test series vs England and then
hand over to the new captain for the ODI. Then he
plays as a batsman as long as he earns his pick.

However, we all know there is nothing logical
about West Indies cricket.

The big problem with Sarwan is that the WICB selection panel signalled a new direction with the forcing out of Lara. Clearly there is going to be lot more emphasis on discpline & fitness. Indeed , it is now part of the selection criteria for the captaincy. Sarwan fails that criteria.

Tell us...what good is it to have a very fit driver...physically, mentally, the works...to drive a bus that has knocking, overheating engine, smooth tires, no brakes, bad shocks, leaking roof, broken windows, empty gas tank, very uncomfortable seats and no mechanics?

Kindly explain how the fitness of the driver will overcome all that and successfully drive bus that on steep decline?
