Digicel today announced it is paying to support an experienced sports psychologist joining the West Indies cricket team for the current England tour.
David Scott, who has worked with the team for brief intervals since the Pakistan tour in 2005, will now join the Windies on a full-time basis beginning his service tomorrow, Thursday, May 17th.

Ask Digicel what happened to the money for the youth cricket. This PR won't work with me.

Why is Digicel making personnel decisions for West Indies Cricket? Shouldn't the WICB be hiring and firing personnel. This socalled team sponsor has way too much clout for my liking.

"Digicell is the best thing to happen to West Indies in a long time"
Please put that statement in the same place along with this next one..
" Chris Gayle is the best spinner in the West Indies"

I didn't see anywhere in the article that Digicel MADE the decision to hire, far less picked out who to hire for this position. It says they sponsored the psychologist which I take to mean, they have decided to pay the wages of whomever the WICB determined was appropriate for the position.
Even if Digicel told the WICB....hey....we know a good sports psychologist and we're recommending X person and doh worry...we'll take care of all expenses concerning this person, it's still up to the WICB to accept or decline that offer.
Perhaps WICB in it's wisdom could have said....thank you Digicel but what we REALLY need right now is say...a strength & conditioning coach..more so than a psychologist and would you be willing to sponsor that individual in a like manner, it would be different.

You have both gone off the deep edge. There is not implication in the article that Digicel made the personnel decision. The only things that we can reasonably infer are that WICB didn't prioritize the need for a team psychologist, or that the funding wasn't there and Digicel stepped up.
Acknowledging a positive step or even being quiet when they do something positive really burn y'all so.
C&W and Digicel same difference. Y'all develop these allegiences as if any of them putting any food on your table.

I guess Chrissy is concerned that the Digicel sponsored psychologist will hypnotize the players with C&W PE's into denouncing C&W and WIPA.

Look Digicel, C&W any team sponsor pay to have their company logo on the team uniform. If WICB got a fair price for that then Digicel should have no say in team composition. I am not against a psychologist its just not healthy to have the socalled team sponsor financing individual positions. What next the decide the composition of the team/support staff?

Great move by Digicel. Truly the best thing to happen to WI cricket in a long, long time :D
The WI has already hired a strentgh and conditioning coach.
As for the cricket development money, how do you think the many recent A team tours were funded.
GWAN DIGICEL!!

I dont care who is doing the "sponsoring" of this psychologist. All I know is,this is just what this team needs.I seems to remember Jamaica winning the double, with the help of a rookie psychologist;with all their "stars" missing for most of the season.

There are two separate issues here. The hiring of a psychologist is a very positive move. I have advocated for that on this MB for a long time. The separate issue is what Digicell finances. Although I think it is a good thing for immediate results to have a psychologist, I think it is also important that the Board take a lon-term view and adequately fund and organize the lower levels. We need discipline and commitment to be developed at age 15 rather than age 25. Can both be financed at the same time? I hope so.

bennet King was a fraud, he boy moore is a fraud, dis "cykoligist" is a fraud, seems this is what we like ..a bunch of cheap(make that expensive) tricksters and frauds, who will tell us what we supposedly want to hear. What we need is Roger Harper to return to the helm with the powers that were given to BK and the backing of the board to enforce discipline...

Well for years I have advocated that the WICB EMPLOY THE SERVICES
OF A SPORTS PSYCHOLOGISTS FOR THE TEAM .
My hope is that this is a permanent move , and not a once in a while move by the WICB .

I guess now that the team, and those responsible for our present dispicable performance; espeacially the selectors; and all the other saboteurs; can be officially and undisputably considered a bunch of pathetic losers; and that we now have sunk to new level of almost unparalleled mediocrity; we can deduce that Lara had to be crazy to succeed in spite of such circumstances!!! He was definately not 'normal'.
I guess that mediocrity, like misery, needs comfort.
