Rawle Lewis Tapped to Captain Windwards

Grenadian leg-spinning all-rounder Rawle Lewis has been named captain of the Windward Islands cricket team for this year's Busta Cup competition. The Windwards will meet Bangladesh 'A' in St. Kitts in round one, which bowls off on January 25.

The Windward Islands Cricket Board, which announced the captaincy, said the full squad will be named on Friday.

The Board, at its Annual General Meeting (AGM), made several management appointments for the various Windwards teams for the upcoming cricket season.

Carl Glasgow has been returned as manager of the Windwards senior team, but a coach is yet to be announced, as Alfred Bynoe, originally named for the position, has now been elevated to coaching the West Indies 'B' team.

Samuel Holder is manager of the Under-15 side and Trevor Shillingford coach.

Emmanuel Nanton has been selected to manage the Under-19 team and Irvin Warrington of St. Vincent is the coach. Julian Jack, former St. Vincent and the Grenadines opening batsman, has been returned as chairman of the selectors. The other two members of the panel are newcomer Kaleb Laurent and Augustus Andrews.

The Windward Islands Cricket Board is also looking to put a new constitution in place to allow it to separate the post of president and CEO, both of which are currently held by Lennox John. As it stands the present committee will remain in place for another year.

John said the decision to separate the positions was made two years ago and should have come into effect at the AGM.
