Windies Practice Game Suddenly Abandoned

reports from Trinidad that the special practice game was suddenly abandoned after Carl Hooper's XI was dismissed for 72.

It was believed that the pitch was too dangerous to continue play. Hooper had lamented the poor quality of the pitch after the opening day's play.

When Hooper's team fell for 72, Jacobs' XI needed just 24 runs to win. Chris Gayle was injured on his elbow overnight and did not bat. Neil McGarrell, who had a foot injury, also did not bat.

It was felt the pitch was dangerous to the players health and the game was abandoned just on the stroke of lunch time.

A special one day match has been arranged for Mondat at the Queens Queens Park Oval, and the pitch is being watered down today in the hope that it will be better on Monday for play.

The West Indies team for the tour will be named on Monday despite the events today, according to coach Roger Harper.
