Ryan Hinds to Make Test Debut
Barbadian all-rounder Ryan Hinds will make his Test debut
against Pakistan -- just three weeks shy of his 21st birthday.
According to a Craig Cozier report from Sharjah, Hinds has been
chosen in the West Indies eleven for the game, which begins
Thursday (1:00 a.m tonight Caribbean time). The report said Hinds
was included in a batting-heavy team that also features the return
of Guyanese left-hander Shiv Chanderpaul.
It also means that Dinanath Ramnarine, the only specialist
spinner in the 15-man squad, was dropped, leaving Carl Hooper's
slow off-spin and Hinds' uncomplicated left-arm spin as the main
slow options to back up three pacers, Cozier reported.
The final eleven also sees the return of Sherwin Campbell, the
experienced Barbadian opener who lost his place after the tour to
Australia, when the West Indies was shellacked 5-0. Cozier said
Campbell, who has played in 51 Tests, will bat at number three. The
selectors have opted to stick with the struggling opening pair of
Chris Gayle and Daren Ganga
Cozier said Cameron Cuffy and Mervyn Dillon will spearhead the pace
attack with Pedro Collins providing left-arm variety.
