The Humiliation Shows No Signs of Ending

Pakistan completed a humiliating 244-run victory over the West Indies in the second Test at Sharjah, to record a 2-0 victory in a one-sided series.

Chasing an unlikely 434 to win, the West Indian batting line-up collapsed in the face of some fiery and accurate bowling led by Pakistan skipper Waqar Younis.

Waqar took his 350th Test wicket on the way to recording figures of 4-44 as the West Indies were rolled over for 189.

Abdur Razzaq chipped in with three cheap wickets as Pakistan completely outplayed their opponents.

Pakistan declared their second innings on 225-5 shortly after lunch with Yousuf Youhana making an unbeaten 52.

West Indies fast bowler Mervyn Dillon took two quick wickets in the morning to dismiss Younis Khan for 71 - to end a second wicket partnership of 144 - and Taufiq Umar for 69.

Collins then claimed the vital wicket of Inzamam-ul-Haq, caught by substitute fielder Darryl Brown, to leave Pakistan on 175-4, but Youhana gave his captain all the runs he needed to declare early.

Waqar then pinned Chris Gayle lbw for four as the West Indies reply got off to a nightmare start.

Their problems were compounded by two doubtful umpiring decisions as Daren Ganga and Carl Hooper fell lbw to Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mustaq to leave the West Indies on 54-3 at tea.

Ryan Hinds and wicket keeper Ridley Jacobs briefly stopped the rot with a stand of 47, but Hinds fell to Waqar for 46 to provide the Pakistan captain with his 350th Test wicket.

Fittingly, Waqar finished the game off by bowling Pedro Collins, leaving Jacobs unbeaten on 35.

Pakistan won the opening Test by 170 runs in Sharjah.
