Guyana Openers Score Big Centuries
Monster undefeated centuries from openers Azeemul Haniff (180
n.o) and Sewnarine Chattergoon (138 n.o) tightened the screws on
Bangladesh 'A' on the opening day of the third round Busta Cup
match at Bourda.
The opening pair batted throught the day to lead Guyana to 327
without loss. In other matches, West Indies 'B' reached 144/3 in
their rain-hit match against the Windwards while Trinidad skittled
out Barbados for 174 and reached 37/1 at the close. At Kaiser,
Jamaica recovered from a poor start to reach 209/7 against the
Leewards.
West Indies 'B' v Windward Islands
Sent in to bat by the Windwards, the Windies 'B' were 144/3 at the
close of the rain-hit opening day at Queen's Park, Grenada. The
umpires called off play early after seepage was discovered
under the covers. Satish Naidoo was not out on 69.
Guyana v Bangladesh 'A'
Guyana, sent to bat by Bangladesh 'A', were 327 without loss at
Bourda. Azeemul Haniff 180 not out, Sewnarine Chattergoon 138 not
out.
Trinidad and Tobago v Barbados
Trinidad and Tobago, replying to the Barbados first innings score
of 174, were 37/1 at the Queen's Park Oval. Ravi Rampaul took 4-41
and Mukesh Persad 3-33 to help destroy the Bajans. At the close,
Trinidad was 37/1 with Imran Jan not out on 18.
Jamaica v Leewards
Sent to bat by the Leeward Islands, Jamaica recovered from a poor
start to reach 209/7 at the close of play at the Kaiser Sports
Club. Laurie Williams led the way with 40 while Mario Ventura was
39 not out at the close. For the Leewards, Kerry Jeremy continued
his fine showing this year, picking up 3-34 while Adam Sanford
chipped in with 2-72.
