Sir Viv to Help Update WI Coaching Manual

Looking to make it up to the great man after unceremoniously dumping him from the coaching post, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has announced that former skipper Sir Viv Richards will help to update coaching techniques in the Caribbean.

Richards is scheduled to attend a WIBC workshop, which starts next Tuesday at the Cascadia Hotel in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

The ?Master Blaster?, who captained the regional team in 50 of the 121 Tests he played between 1974 and 1991, will be joined by four other former players: WICB boss Wes Hall, current team coach Roger Harper, chairman of the selection panel Mike Findlay and CEO of the West Indies Players' Association (WIPA) David Holford.

Other participants include Kenny Benjamin, Peter Lashley, Clyde Butts and Tony Gray.

The WICB said the workshop is the brainchild of Dr. Michael Seepersaud and the development unit of the WICB. Other former players part of the process include Sir Everton Weekes, Seymour Nurse, Gordon Greenidge, Jeffrey Dujon, Derryck Murray, Colin Croft and Ian Bishop.

Australian coaches Ashleigh Byron and Tim Coyle will run the the six-day workshop that will discuss changes to the West Indies coaching structure. The two will draft the outline of the WICB's Level I, II and III coaching curriculum and the contents of the WICB's coaching manual.
