Hooper, Chanderpaul Crack PwC Top 20 Rankings

The red-hot bats of Carl Hooper and Shivnarine Chanderpaul have catapulted the Guyanese pair into the top 20 of the latest PricewaterhouseCoopers Test batting rankings.

They join out-of-touch batting maestro Brian Lara (number two) as the three Caribbean batsmen in the top 20. Hooper, the West Indian captain who is having a dream series (556 runs, avg. 111.20), continued his steady ascent in the rankings, moving up two spots to number thirteen.

Chanderpaul (445 runs, avg. 222.50), climbed six spots to number 19 in the rankings. In the first four Tests against India, Hooper and Chanderpaul have a combined aggregate of 1,001 with six centuries between them.

Despite having a poor run in this series, Lara (158 runs, avg 31.60) held on to the number two slot, behind Australian Adam Gilchrist. India's Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistan's Inzamam-ul-Haq flip-flopped the number three and number four slots.

Fast bowler Merv Dillon (number 15) is the only West Indian bowler in the top 20.
