Cush Smacks Ton, Grabs Six Wickets in WCL

Guyana's Lennox Cush turned in a spectacular day's play with both bat and ball to lead Baltimore Cricket Club to a 22-run win over Kensington in a showdown of the two top teams in the Washington Cricket League (WCL).

Batting first, Baltimore amassed 254 off their allotted 40 overs with Cush leading the way with a quickfire 100, a knock that included 5 sixes and 7 fours. Jamaica opener Leon Garrick supported well with 67, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.

For Kensington, Barbados and West Indies ODI pacer Corey Collymore bowled his allotted eight overs for 43 runs without picking up a wicket, while Audley Sanson's eight overs cost him 53 runs, and he too went wicketless.

Kensington in reply fell short by 22 runs, reaching 232 in their 40 overs. Tony Powell hit 70, and the chief wicket taker for Baltimore was Cush, who returned figures of 6 for 24.

Cush recently pulled out of the inter-county final in Guyana because of prior commitments in the U.S.

The Washington Cricket League in the United States has been in existence for almost 30 years. It is a hunting ground of many current and former Caribbean senior team players. The league, which is presided over by Baltimore Cricket Club president John Pinnock, has 26 teams competing.
