Benn in Hot Water Again

Barbadian left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn has apparently run himself in hot water again.

According to the Barbados Nation, Benn was yesterday asked to leave the Empire Club ground at Bank Hall because of poor conduct. It comes on the heels of his recent hearing with the West Indies Cricket Board disciplinary committee following reports on the West Indies 'A' team summer tours of England and Canada.

Benn spent most of the day at the Empire ground yesterday during the opening day of the Courts/Suzuki Division 1 match between front-runners Banks and Empire after the match involving his club, Spartan, was abandoned early because of wet conditions.

Empire officials, however, politely requested that he vacate the premises just before 6 p.m. after there was some commotion between himself and a Banks player.

"It appeared there was some sort of argument involving him [Benn] and we felt it was going in the wrong direction," Empire secretary Michael Phillips told the newspaper.

"We didn't feel we wanted to have that sort of thing at Empire Club, bearing in mind we were entertaining the Banks team. The rules of the BCA state the home team is responsible for the behaviour of the spectators."

"We had to take the decision where we asked him if he could kindly leave the premises of the club."
