'Blame The Batsmen' - Sarwan

West Indies number three batsman Ronnie Sarwan has blamed the batsmen for the regional side's debacle in the first two Tests against India, saying their negative approach and failure to convert good starts to big scores spelled doom for the team.

"Our batsmen started off well on several occasions, but then could not convert the good starts to big scores," Sarwan told journalists ahead of the third Test at Eden Gardens. "Moreover, we have been too negative. We should have been more attacking and positive," the 22-year-old right hander said.

Sarwan also disagreed that the team had suffered for its lack of preparation before embarking on the tour to India where conditions were different from the Caribbeans.

"There was nothing wrong with our preparations. As professionals, we need to adjust to all kinds of situations. So, it's no use blaming the conditions." The Guyanese said that the wickets in India were not much different from those in the West Indies. "Only they turned a bit more and had less bounce." Sarwan, who would be playing his first test at the Eden, said that he found the atmosphere wonderful during the morning net session.

"I have been told that we will have a large crowd. And I am looking forward to playing here," he said.
