Eden Gardens By The Numbers

India and West Indies have played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on seven occasions. West Indies won three, lost one and drew three matches. The last time the two sides met in 1987-88, Viv Richards' side drew with Vengsarkar's side. West Indies made 530-5 declared with three hundreds from Greenidge, Logie and Hooper.

Calcutta, as it was then known, was also the scene of Rohan Kanhai's maiden Test century, an explosive 256 runs (then the highest score on Indian soil and only recently bettered by Laxman's 281 v Australia in 2000) as West Indies piled up 614-5 dec with hundreds from Sobers and Butcher in the 1958-59 series. Bishen Bedi tops the wicket tally (29 wickets at 22.03 with a best figure of 7-98). For West Indies Andy Roberts has the most wickets and best bowling average (12 wickets at 17.08 with best figure of 5-50).
