WICB Appoints Team Doctor for ODIs

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has officially confirmed the appointment of Dr Akshai Mansingh to the newly-created post of medical advisor for the regional side during their seven-match ODI series against India.

WICB chief operations officer Michael Hall said the decision to appoint a team doctor came following a specific request from manager Ricky Skerritt, who called for a medical practitioner to work with the side during the hectic limited-overs schedule.

"Dr Mansingh has been in India with a tour group watching the ongoing three-Test series and offered the team his services at no cost until the Tests were over," Hall said. The WICB never releases financial terms of its personnel transactions.

Dr Mansingh, who lives and practises in Jamaica, was appointed to the WICB's medical panel last year.
