Couva To Get FC Venue Status
Trinidad and Tobago's National Cricket Centre at Couva is set to
become the sixth first class venue in the twin-island republic.
Reports say the facility is being configured to the exact
specifications of the more famous Queens Park Oval in Port of
Spain.
The Couva ground will host two matches in the regional four-day
tournament next year. The other five first-class venues in Trinidad
are the Queen's Park Oval, Guaracara Park, Wilson Road Recreation
Ground, Roxborough and Shaw Park.
The National Cricket Centre is home to the Administrative Centre
of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control (TTCBC) and the
Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Development Centre. Work has started to
finish the outfield at the new ground by the end of November.
It is one of the few cricket-only facilities in the Caribbean.
