Chanders is Guyana's Top Cricketer
Shivnarine Chanderpaul will be named Cricketer-of-the-Year when the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) holds its Annual Awards Ceremony on Friday, the Board announced on Monday.
The Guyana and West middle-order batsman has had a prolific season at the international level, both in the region and overseas.
He will also receive the award as the Batsman-of-the-Year.
Another West Indian player, Mahendra Nagamootoo, has been named Bowler-of-the-Year following outstanding performances in local and regional competitions.
Lennox Cush, with two centuries at the regional level, is the Most Improved Player, while the Young Warriors Cricket Club is the Team-of-the-Year.
The GCB will also present awards to individuals and companies who have given support to the organisation over the years.
At Friday's ceremony, Chris Dehring, Chief Executive Officer of the 2007 cricket World Cup, will talk about the tremendous opportunities and challenges for countries bidding to be venues for the tournament.
