T&T Squad: Rampaul in; Mohamed Out
Former West Indies youth wicketkeeper Navin Chan and fast bowling prospect Ravi Rampaul were included in the 13-member Trinidad and Tobago Senior squad to meet Guyana in the opening round Regional competition from January 31 at Guaracara Park.
Chan did not play in the North/South Pizza Hut Gerry Gomez Cricket Classic but found a place in the final T&T squad. The only minor surprise was the absence of spinner Dave Mohamed, who is facing a rape charge in Grenada.
Two years ago Dave Mohamed appears to be one of the brightest prospects in West Indies cricket. But the leg-spinner's career appears to be in jeopardy with this latest non-selection.
The 21-year-old Mohammed, who graduated from the Shell Academy in Grenada, had shown good form with both bat and ball in Trinidad and Tobago trial matches, but was dropped from teh final XI for the North-South Classic.
Instead, T&T will depend on the duo of Dinanath Ramnarine and Mukesh Persad. Former Test pacer Marlon Black will be the pace spearhead new ball and will most likely share duties with either Rampaul or Theo Modeste.
