ICC to Hear Samuels Case Friday

Contrary to reports circulating around the Caribbean, there has been no decision yet by the ICC on the West Indies Cricket Board's (WICB) request to have Marlon Samuels rejoin the World Cup team.

In fact, the International Cricket Council has scheduled a hearing for Friday to deliberate on the WICB request to allow the reinstatement Samuels.

In a statement, the WICB said president Rev. Wes Hall was notified of the Friday meeting, which will be chaired by ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed. Former Jamaica and West Indies pacer Michael Holding is a member of the ICC technical committee that will conduct the hearing.

"The President has already stated that we will do all in our power to have Marlon play in the CWC 2003 and resolution of this matter now rests with the ICC," WICB COO Michael Hall said.
