McLean in, Collins Out

The West Indies has named Vincentian fast bowler Nixon McLean to replace the struggling Pedro Collins in the final 11 for their second World Cup match against New Zealand on Thursday morning.

The 29-year-old McLean last played for the West Indies in an international match almost two years ago and is all set to share the new ball with Merv Dillon in the crucial New Zealand match.

The Somerset professional has taken 46 wickets (avg 36.76) in 44 one-day internationals.

The left-handed Collins had a nightmare opening match in the three-run win over South Africa. He did bowl a tight penultimate over and took an important wicket but overall, his bowling and fielding wre substandard.

Collins' biggest gaffe was taking a catch to dismiss the rampaging Lance Klusener, only to nonchalantly step on the boundary rope, resulting in six runs. At the time, it was the costliest of errors.
