T&T Spinner Cleared of Rape Charges

Trinidadian cricketer Dave Mohammed has been cleared of rape charges in a St. George's, Grenada court.

CaribUpdate reports that all the charges were dismissed. Mohammed, who played in one ODI for the West Indies, was charged with rape after an incident which happened on a Grenada beach while he was a member of West Indies Cricket Academy at the St. George's University last year.

Ever since the rape charges, Mohammed has been dropped from the Trinidad and Tobago squad, though he was on trial and performed creditably in the run-up to the current Carib Beer Cricket Series.

The trial has been going on in Grenada for the last month, and Mohammed has spent some of his spare time appearing for leading club GCC, also the team of former West Indies wicket-keeper Junior Murray.

Mohammed was represented by the local law firm of Bristol and Bristol.
