Carib Beer Fourth Round All-Stars

We are now at the halfway point of the Carib Beer Cup series. Over the past three rounds, the players making my all-star teams have not being consistent. One would hope that at least a few players would have made more than two appearances over the four rounds played so far.

And no one has repeated as player of the round. Five players have managed to appear twice so far (including this round). They are Devon Smith, Imran Jan, Azeemul Haniff, Floyd Reifer, Cameron Cuffy, Marlon Black and Suliman Benn. Each round also saw a different wicket keeper appearing on the all-star list. Here are my all-stars after the fourth round...

The fourth round seems to show regression in the batting as only one century, scored by veteran first-class batsman, Stuart Williams, was scored this time around. His teammate, Adam Sandford also stepped up with an outstanding bowling performance, turning in a 10-wicket match haul to help lead his Leeward Island team to their first outright victory of the series.

From the Windward Islands team, wicket-keeper Junior Murray makes his first all-star appearance with a very good second innings half-ton to help save face for his team. He is joined by fellow countryman and opener Devon Smith, who makes his second appearance with a healthy half-ton. Romel Currency makes the reserve list also with a solid half-ton in the second inningss.

The Barbados-Guyana match saw 5-wicket hauls by opposing bowlers, Suleiman Benn and Mahendra Nagamootoo. Both these performances gave their respective teams a good chance for getting an outright victory in a match that was curtailed in the end by bad light. Travis Dowlin?s first innings half-ton knock earns him his first all-star appearance. Philo Wallace of Barbados makes the reserves with a half-ton knock that helped Barbados earned first innings points.

Darren Powell of Jamaica finally breaks out of his poor slump and claims a fiver to propel Jamaica to their first win of the series. He makes his first all-star, along with opener Brenton Parchment, who gave Jamaica a decent start for a comprehensive 1-innings victory over the WI ?B? team. Gareth Breese and David Bernard, jr. both also had very good performances, which earned them spots on the reserve list.

No one from the WI ?B? team earned an all-star 11, but Carlton Baugh,jr. earns himself a spot on the reserves as he continues to impress with his fourth half-ton of the series.

My choices for players of the round are Adam Sandford and Stuart Williams.
