Round Six, Day One Scores

Former West Indies opener Stuart Williams set the Kensington Oval alight Friday with a flashy 146 as the Leewards rallied from early trouble to score 249 against frontrunners Barbados.

Williams, who played 31 matches for the West Indies in the late 1990s, continued his fine run with the bat this year, single-handedly leading the Leewards to a respectable score. He was the star on a day when bowlers held the upper hand in all four games across the region.

LEEWARDS V BARBADOS:

Replying to the Leewards first innings score of 249, Barbados reached 107 for three. Stuart Williams led the way for the Leewards with 146. For Barbados, left-arm pacer Ian Bradshaw was the pick of the bowlers, grabbing 4-69.

SCORES: Leeward Islands 249 (Stuart Williams 146; Ian Bradshaw 4-69, Dwayne Smith 2-27). Barbados 107 for three (Sherwin Campbell 50).

GUYANA V INDIA 'A':
Guyana bowled out the visiting India 'A' for 249 and reached seven without loss at the close. Pacers Rayon Griffith and Esan Crandon took three wickets each. For India 'A', discarded Test batsman VVS Laxman led the way with 70.

WINDIES 'B' V WINDWARD ISLANDS
Batting first at the Botanical Gardens in Dominica, the Windward Islands posted a score of 275 for seven at the score. Former West Indies wicket-keeper Junior Murray was unbeaten on 84 and opener Devon Smith was again among the runs, hitting a polished 53.

SCORE: Windwards 275-7 (Junior Murray 84 not out, Devon Smith 53; Aneil Kanhai 2-39, Jason Bennett 2-44).

JAMAICA V TRINIDAD & TOBAGO:
Batting first at the Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad reached 214 for nine at the close as Darren Powell (3-33) and Gareth Breese (3-45) enjoyed success.
