Windies Turn to Teenager

On the heels of Sunday's bowling meltdown in Barbados, the West Indies has turned to another debutant -- 18-year-old Jerome Taylor -- to stop the bleeding in the third and final ODI match against Sri Lanka.

Taylor, a fast bowler who has not yet graduated high school, was named in a 15-man squad for Wednesday's final game in St Vincent at the expense of the struggling Merv Dillon.

The Taylor-for-Dillon swap is the only change to the squad that lost the first two games in Barbados and represents a major shift towards the youth brigade with the two-Test series just weeks away.

Dillon, who has taken 123 wickets in 33 Tests, gave up 66 runs in his 10 overs in the second ODI. In the past, Dillon has shied away from taking a lead role at crucial periods of ODI games and was even dropped during the recent Test series against Australia for loss of form.

With Taylor joining the likes of Daren Powell in the squad, it could make for an interesting situation when the time comes to pick the Test squad. Tino Best, who was unimpressive in his Test debut, is another hungry youngster to add to the list.
