Logie Confirmed; To Get Assistant

Gus Logie will get an assistant and a physiotherapist for the senior West Indies team.

That's the word from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) which finally confirmed the appointment of the Trinidadian Logie as head coach for the next two years.

Logie, a Level III accredited coach, took over from Roger Harper for the two home series against Australia and Sri Lanka. He has coached West Indies representative teams at the Under-15, Under-19, Youth World Cup, Windies 'A' and Windies 'B' teams.

From 1995, Logie has an unbeaten record as coach of all West Indies Under-19 and Windies ?A? team Test match tournaments.

The WICB board of directors also gave approval for the hiring of an assistant coach and a physiotherapist to join Logie's staff but there were no details on personnel to fill those vacancies.

Former West Indies fast bowlers Kenny Benjamin and Eldine Baptiste are high on the list of names being whispered for the assistant's job.

Separately, the WICB has started advertising to fill the post of Chief Marketing Executive (CME) which was left vacant when Roger Brathwaite was handpicked for the chief executive position.

The CEO position was never advertised although the full board had agreed to conduct a thorough search for a chief executive.
