Working on Ravi Rampaul's Action

Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies youth fast bowler Ravi Rampaul will leave on Sunday for Jamaica to undertake remedial exercises in a Bio-Mechanics Clinic for fast bowlers.

The clinic, which will run from Monday to Friday at Sabina Park in Kingston, will be conducted by Dr Richard Stretch, director of UPE Academy of Sports in South Africa.

Rampaul who emerged as the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded TCL West Indies Youth Cricket Challenge in Guyana, was analysed with an unsafe technique by WICB territorial officer, Kumar Rampat, while training with the Under-19 team.

Rampaul was then sent to Antigua in July for a bio-mechanical analysis, which was conducted by West Indies Cricket Board development officer, Dr Michael Seepersaud, and former West Indies fast bowler Kenny Benjamin.

It was then recommended that Rampaul should avoid making changes until after the youth tournament, when he should start his remediation. The coaches were advised that Rampaul understands and is comfortable with any changes.

While in Jamaica, Rampaul will benefit from the expertise of Dr Stretch, who will take a closer look at his bowling actions.

Rampaul captured 28 wickets in last month?s youth tournament, which assisted T&T to land the coveted double. He won the prize for the ?Best Bowler,? Several top officials will also be a part of the clinic, including West Indies senior team coach, Gus Logie, former Test players Bryan Davis, Tony Gray and Colin Croft, advanced coaches Rampat and Bachan Boochoon, and Dr Terry Ali.

A Tutor/Workshop will also be held from September 13 -15, at which Rampat and Boochoon will participate.
