Skerritt Heart Scare

West Indies team manager Ricky Skerritt has undergone tests in a private hospital in Zimbabwe after complaining of chest pains three times in the past week, according to a report from Tony Cozier in Tuesday's Trinidad Express.

The report said Skerritt was back on duty here on Monday morning after undergoing tests that cleared him of suspected heart problems.

Skerritt said he had experienced discomfort across his chest three times in the past week and was advised by the team doctor to have a thorough examination to investigate the source of the problem.

"They put me through a whole series of cardiac tests and they all proved negative. They finally diagnosed it as bronchial inflammation and were able to discharge me this (Monday) morning when it had appreciably eased," he said.

"Apparently, bronchial and asthmatic conditions are not uncommon at this time of the year here with the jaccaranda and other trees beginning to blossom after their winter months. I was a little worried there for a time and am obviously relieved to discover it had nothing to do with the heart," Cozier reported.
